I played a friendly tournament practice game this weekend. My friend is going to play in a local tournament next weekend and I always want to play.

My list - BA - 1850
Librarian - Jump pack
Reclusiarch - Termie armor, combi-flamer
5 man Termie squad - 5 TH and SS
2 Sanguinary priests - 2 Jump packs
Furioso dreadnought - Blood talons
10 man Assault squad - Meltagun, power fist
10 man Assault squad - Meltagun, power fist
Baal predator - Sponson heavy bolters
Baal predator - Sponson heavy bolters
Storm raven - TW heavy bolters, TW las cannon, 4 bloodstrike missiles

His list - Daemons - 1850
The Great Unclean One
Epidemius
3 Beasts of nurgle
7 plaguebearers
7 plaguebearers
14 plaguebearers
14 plaguebearers
7 nurgling bases
3 Daemon princes

Mission
Capture and control - Spearhead. I win a roll off and elect to go second. I deploy my forces around a large piece of terrain and my objective. Daemons come in at the top of turn one.

Daemons T1
The forces of chaos approve of the dastardly designs of the Nurgle daemon host. The Great Unclean One (TGUO), a winged daemon prince, 2 squads of plaguebearers, and a squad of nurglings appear on the field. The winged daemon prince scatters to within one inch of the field edge. The nuglings show up off to the side to be a distraction. The daemons run to further entrench themselves in cover and physical reality.
D 0 - BA 1

BA T1
The Angels respond to the daemon threat by taking advantage of distance and firepower. The attack bikes move to get shots on the winged daemon prince. The assault squads and armor hold position. The bikes are able to penetrate the puss ridden skin of the nurgle daemon prince. The combined fire support of all other forces are able to fell four plaguebearers.
D 0 - BA 1

Daemons T2
The warp pierces the veil of physical reality and an innumerable legion of daemons manifest (ALL reserve rolls were successful). The foul daemon Epidemius arrives with a retinue of plaguebearers. A second winged daemon prince and a ground bound daemon prince also arrive in near proximity. A grouping of beasts of nurgle arrive in the open. Finally, a squad of plaguebearers arrive near the daemon objective. The daemons continue to position themselves in such a way that controlled fire cannot be brought to bear on the leadership.
D 0 - BA 1

BA T2
The Astartes loose a battle cry praising the Emperor and jet out of their entrenched positions. Squad 1 jumps towards the tiny nurgling horde. Squad 2 jumps forward to assault the ground bound daemon prince. A Predator backs out of the landing zone of the Storm raven gun ship, making room for the honored dreadnought battle brother. Squad 1 opens fire on the nurglings in route to their assault (three wounds, one base). Squad 2 and the attack bikes fire at the walking daemon prince (three wounds). The space marine armor fires on the plaguebearers, killing two. The dreadnought fires on the beasts and inflicts a wound. Squad 1 is able to stomp out all but three of the nurglings. Squad 2 is able to kill the walking daemon prince, losing three of their own in the process. The dreadnought is able to kill two beasts and wound a third.
D 0 - BA 0

Daemons T3
The gaze of the two winged daemon princes is immediately drawn to the splatter of infected gore emanating from the area of the beasts. They take flight and prepare to join the slaughter. TGUO and a group of plaguebearers counter charge the red armored humans standing over the bilious body of the fallen prince. The princes of the warp are unable to score a hit sufficient to stop the dreadnought. The dreadnought is able to skewer the last beast and wound one of the princes. TGUO loses two of his plaguebearers while dropping three more marines. Epidemius laughs as he marks their names on his list of those now rotting. The last of the nurglings are sent back to the warp.
D 0 - BA 0

BA T3
The reclusiarch and terminators receive word that all forces are to be committed immediately. They disembark from the gun ship and make ready to charge to the aid of their over matched dreadnought comrade. Squad 1 jumps towards the lightly defended daemon objective. The attack bikes activate their boosters and attempt a flanking maneuver. Marine fire is reduced to an ineffective spray of bolts as the two sides close on each other. The reclusiarch and terminators are unable to reach the dreadnought and princes (double 1s on the difficult terrain roll, needed a 3). The dreadnought is reduced to scrap by the two princes. TGUO and the plaguebearers kill the remainder of squad 2.
D 0 - BA 0

Daemons T4
Like filth flowing down hill, the nurgle horde creeps closer to the Blood Angel objective. One of the warp princes, Epidemius, and his plaguebearer retinue assault the terminators. One of the princes belches forth a spray of puss and fluid, killing a terminator and stunning a Baal predator. The other winged prince and a squad of plaguebearers are sent to reinforce the daemon objective. The wave of foulness overwhelms the marine lines and two terminators are lost. The terminators fail to return any punishment. The winged prince sent to intercept the flanking squad of marines, spits pure chaos, killing three marines. It then charges, killing four more before losing its grip on the material realm. The squad of plaguebearers near the daemon objective begin marking their territory. Epidemius busily adds more names to his tally of fallen.
D 1 - BA 0

BA T4
The reclusiarch gives orders to hold at all costs. Do whatever is required to prevent the daemons from reaching the Astartes objective. Inspired, the terminators hold their ground. No matter how many wounds land against them, their armor holds. No matter how many hammer strikes land on the daemons, their dark pacts protect them. Squad 1 moves closer to the plaguebears on the daemon objective. The attack bike boost towards the daemon objective.
D 1 - BA 0

Daemons T5
Epidemius blurst out a long list of fallen heroes of the Imperium. Many of that list included in the most recent action. The forces of nurgle surge forward, fully empowered by the wicked litany (all nurgle forces wound on 2+, get rerolls to wound on anything with less toughness than themselves, count as power weapons, feel no pain on 3+, and some other stuff. It's really bad for opponents). The daemons continue their relentless assault on the terminators. The reclusiarch refuses to give in. The plaguebearers on the daemon objective leave their station and strike out at the approaching marine squad 1, losing three and killing three (all marine troop choices have been killed).
D 0 - BA 0

Here is a pic of a psychic test I made. I swear on a stack of bibles I am not using loaded dice.

BA T5
The reclusiarch orders a complete and thorough orbital bombardment of the area to deny the daemons their prize and he is slain by the rising rot. The Baals move to block the progress of the advancing horde and the raven moves to threaten any that dare approach. They will all give their lives for the emperor. The attack bikes boost to the daemon objective in an effort to deny a daemon claim. The librarian and priest die to the plaguebearers (Three attacks, three hits, three wounds).
D 0 - BA 0

The orbital strike is not timely and there is a turn six (I rolled a three for the game to continue).
Daemons T6
The daemons press through the marine armor. They are able to destroy the Storm raven and one of the Baal predators. They inch closer to their prize. The plaguebears assault the bikes. They down one rider and gunner.
D 0 - BA 0

BA T6
The crew of the Baal predator sits in prayer, expecting the holy fire from the orbital fleet to rectify the great wrongs wrought on the field of battle this day. The bikes attempt to hold their position, but seeing another rider and gunner slain, the last rider flees, dishonoring himself, his chapter, his dead primarch, the Imperium of man, and worst of all, the Emperor (I needed a seven and I rolled a ten)!
D 1 - BA 0

At this point, I conceded. We rolled to see if there would have been a turn seven and my opponent rolled a six. It is certain I would have been killed to a model and my opponent would have held two objectives.
It was a fun game! It was close to the very end. I can't ask for more... Okay, maybe it would be nice to win once.
The terrain provided new and unique challenges. It was fun to experience something different. I also really enjoy having a consistent theme to all the terrain on the table.

Dear Games Workshop,

Paper is totally over powered! I can't believe how badly you guys screwed up. Why can't you make armies balanced, like Scissors? I quit!

Enjoyed the report. As a daemon player myself, I was worried when I compared the army lists, assuming the daemons would have a hard time dealing with the BA vehicles. Worked out well for Nurgle, though.

Thanks for posting.

Fantastic to see mono-God builds with Daemons, exactly how it should be! =) Epidemius gives some truly horrific buffs to Nurgle units, I think fully stacked Plaguebearers can become some of the nastiest assault units in the game.

I'm surprised the Tally got that high - I thought it took alot more to get to all those buffs.

It takes 20 kills to get the tally that high. By turn 5... I had the kills. (I played the Daemon list in this battle report.)

I want to give a shout out to the guy who built this terrain. He hand made 10 tables worth of 40k terrain in three months for this tournament, donating one of the tables as a prize.

I was the only one to show up at the tournament, and he gave me the table. He's a really nice guy. http://miniaturesunlimited.com/ He also does a video blog on terrain http://www.youtube.com/user/terrainaholic#p/a/u/1/T3oNO4PRYUA

I wanted to make sure that he at least got to see a battle report done on the table.
