Hi all,
I've been a lurker on Dakka for a while; checking everyone's work and reading up on tips and tutorials.

I started collecting and painting about 7 months ago and went with Black Templar.

I've finally decided to post some of my work and get some feedback!

Painting some of the guns in different colours is a great idea, that's the first thing that came to my mind after watching your army.
Really nice work, although I think that your eyes might need some cleaning.
Nice, subtle highlights as well - could you post your recipe?

Hey! Thanks for the compliments! I'm trying to work on the eyes on my latest models, I agree they could use some work.
For the subtle highlighting, I prime black spray then once its dry I take codex grey and dry brush the whole model until the look a bit ashy then use fortress grey on a super tiny brush to pick only a few important highlights. Then I do wash of badab black. This was the only way I got figured out to get the black to look more interesting and not so flat.

I like the brightness of the eyes, they contrast well with the other colors of the marines. Nice work!

You have to drill out that chappy's barrels - the model is simply too well done in every other respect. I've got to say, I really like your black, so thanks for the recipe. It wouldn't work for everything, but here it gives the PA a nice, textured look, almost like charcoal, which I dig.

My biggest criticism would probably be your white. Looking at the shoulder pads, some look incredibly streaky or splotchy, while others are blindingly crisp. Clean those up, get yourself a micron pen to scribble some "script," and you'll be good to go. You're looking pretty damn good, considering how long you've been painting, so keep at it and you'll be in fantastic shape.
