In the latest edition of White Dwarf (the BA one), there's an article in which Gav Thorpe discusses the Space Marine battle novel series. To cut a long story short, during a talk about fluff 'absolutes', this quote was made; "Marneus Calgar is the chapter master of the Ultramarines. The most common weapon of a Chapter is the boltgun, not multilaser."
Whatever, I needed cheering up today . Any other stories of GW 'infighting'?

Nice one!
Gav also had to clean up the mess, that Goto left with his Eldar novels
And Gav did a good job there as well.

I'd call that a jab from someone who took their job seriously, especially after having to clean up the mess of someone who didn't.

"Infighting" implies that Goto is still with GW.
He's not. And hasn't been for awhile. Even then, from my understanding, he wasn't well liked by the rest of the authors and generally considered an irritable twit.

 Another Goto thread?
At least he has a sense of humor. But I'll never be so foolish as to buy one of his books. I'd get a better story out of writing my own; perhaps a diary log of what I do on the DoW II campaigns..

Meow! Gav 'Shakespeare' Thorpe lays down the law on how to write 'canon' for GW fluff.
Bookwrack wrote:I'd call that a jab from someone who took their job too seriously...
Fixed.
If a book is out of sync with the fluff, that isn't the writers fault, it's the editor's fault. I suppose the editor still works for GW so Gav won't be blaming him.

DUDE. The editor isn't meant to re-write entire books. I can imagine the dude just seeing the book, and then the name of the author and saying "feth it, not this bloke again".
Honestly, Goto is an utter mong.

No he's meant to change things like 'multi lasers' to say 'heavy bolters'. If they didn't like his first book they wouldn't have commissioned a second one... and a third...

That's just rubbish.
Everyone who is anyone in the 40K universe knows that the multilazor is dreadfully, dreadfully common. Something a pro warrior wouldn't be seen dead with!
Pretty much only those oiks in the IG ever use one, and that's mostly because they haven't worked out how to dismount them from their Chimaeras.

No but they can direct an author to make certain changes. GW weren't forced to print what Goto handed in.
