I was just wondering how many people like to play Warlord & ask them if it is a good hobby.

If you don't know what it is, it's a Miniatures game made by Reaper Miniatures, check it out here:

My info is second hand. There used to be a very active Warlord community at my FLGS. Then second edition came out, and there was much gnashing of teeth. The game died oout within a year. I don't remember a lot of specific complaints, but at the time it sounded a lot like the grousing you hear whenever GW does a major reboot: they've nerfed this, overpowered that, and made changes that don't improve the gameplay but do require the purchase of more figures, etc.
No one has show any interest in going back to first edition, either.

So I guess my answer is, I know a lot of people who used to like it very much, but no longer play it. Make of that what you will.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

I play Warlord.

It's a fun game, but it doesn't have a massive following. I'd try to find a group of players near you before I started playing.

Second edition was the last of a long string of rule revisions. After the game came out, Reaper began putting out annual R.A.G.E chronicles that changed the rules and armies around severely. During that time frame, they started making books for each of the factions. Unfortunately, the pace was slow and resulted in some armies (orcs, necropolis, crusaders) having a wealth of units and options while other armies made due with minimal army lists. They ended up scrapping the faction books. It's not really that surprising that players would quit; each revision caused masive changes. Second edition was potentially the most drastic, as Reaper actually cut out content to stick it in the expansion.

It took 5 years for Reaper to revise the stats and make changes to make the game balanced at 1000 points for all 10 factions. The designer states that he refuses any further changes for another 5 years. The game is getting interesting with the new expansion adding another 8 factions to a total of 18. Since the second edition, I have not even heard one bad comment about it.
