Ok so it is pretty well known that each wolf lord can take a name for himself and his company upon his election, most use the name of a wolf from Fenrisian mythology and as a long time Space Wolf player I have created a few myself. I thought of this a long time ago but just now found it and so I figured I'd present it on Dakka to see what people thought (it got very good reviews on B&C back when I posted it there). So here is a bit of my home made Fenrisian mythos. The mythological wolf that my Lord takes his name from is associated with death in Fenrisian mythology and is kind of like the grim reaper/Valkyrie. Also keep in mind this is from a Space Wolves/Fenrisians point of view.

The Blood Wolf is a servant of Morkai; he hunts the battlefields and war zones of the galaxy always present and always watching. As every warrior dies the Blood Wolf tears into his body and rips out his soul (this is represented by however the warrior dies so its that every form of death is the Blood Wolfs fangs) he then takes it to the gates of Morkai where the warriors deeds will be judged. The pelt of the Blood Wolf (unsurprisingly) is matted with blood and gore from the countless who have died in battle. I like to think that a particularly savage and bloodthirsty wolf lord would take this name, its also apt in that if the wolf lord is a true warrior then he acts as the blood wolfs fangs (he's a force of death).

Interesting stuff man. I'm building my own Great Company, so I'm trying to come up with my own Wolf Lord name and corresponding toem. Already picked an insignia/ icon, just need to come up with the background. Good work bro.

Actually I don't use the Blood Wolf as my company name I copied and posted the text from my post on B&C but added that I had posted it there. The Blood Wolf is no longer my companies totem, they're now the Dragon Born company named after Halfdan Dragon Born (who is entered in my ven dread) who is famous for cutting his way out of a Dragon after being swallowed.
