Man thats an old one. By FASA wasn't it? Never played it but curiously found a load of posters in a draw the other day from when it was released originally 15+ years ago?

I believe it was always intended to be the prehistory of the Shadowrun cosmology.
It was a decent game as I recall, with some neat mechanics. Fairly complex, though, which is always a downside for a game competing with the big ones. I only ever played it once, though it was a cool session, exploring a haunted Kaer.

I really loved it, was playing it in the days when it was still new(ish). As for the character, it all depends if you GM will allow you the use of all talents from the rulebook(s). All of them get really overpowered talents around circle 6-8.
I used to play a Necromancer with a spell that let him break all the bones in an enemy (or several enemies) - a number of times equal to his spellpower EACH TURN ... well after our first adventure with this skill, we only ever faced enemies without bones or with exoskeletons / non corporeal etc... you get the picture.
The mechanics are indeed neat - you got different levels for everything and they are represented by dice that are a rough average of that level. For example Level 6 is (if I remember correctly) a D10 - average on a D10 would be 5 and a +1 is added for the possibility to reroll on a 10 (everyone loved levels with D4s in them - rerolls FTW). It's also great to have a game that uses all your fancy RPG dice from D4 to D20.
We played for 3 years on a regular basis 2 times a month and it was great fun - I think I still have the books somewhere .... hmmmm gotta search through the basement

I think my favorite element, IIRC, was that characters had to tell their story and build up their legend to progress in experience.
