I'm new to the WH40k Universe and the community, never played a Table Top game and have no experience in sculpting figures. Somehow I've been infected with the WH40k "Virus" and so I decided to start my own Space Marines Chapter.
My first purpose is to build, convert and paint an army and maybe to create a background story of my Chapter. It's gonna be a Spartan Chapter because there aren't many out there and so I'll begin with the unique Chapter Master Leonidas .

I choosed Scibor's SF Spartan Warrior http://sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=933 as the basis for my conversion. After he arrived I gently introduced him to my Dremel. There were some things I didn't like on the figure but
generally it's a nice model. The shoulder pads were replaced with Scibor's "Lion Shoulder Pads", they shall emphasize the meaning of the name Leonidas (Lion Like). The shield is one out of the "Big Spartan Shield's" pack of Scibor.

First I have to read sculpting How to's and study the look of Spartan armor to make him look more Spartan, so I won't hurry with this project.
I hope you like what you can see for now and I would be thankful for any suggestions, criticisms and so on from the community.

Today I worked on the shoulder pads. I added twisted wire around the Lion head, removed the eyes, caved the cheeks and shaped on one pad a finer mane.

Now I'm stuck between the two types because I like both, so I wanna ask you which type of hair would you choose?

I think this sounds pretty neat. I'm a big fan of 300 so kudos. As far as the pads go, I really like the one on the left. The other one looks like he's just got a big afro IMO.

You're right, It really looks like an Afro. I will keep it original and just mend some details.

I think it's very interesting, and the pauldron on the left most definitely. Those dremel marks will be cleaned up correct?

I have to say that I've paused that chapter project cause I decided to build up a Black Templars army. Don't know when or If I will continue this project.
I will make a WIP Thread of my Black Templars you can drop in if you like.
