I've been on the forum for a few weeks now and missed this intro section.
My names David and i'm from the Eastern Shore of Virginia (Delmarva Peninsula), USA. I attend college at Radford University studying history and am 20 yrs old. Besides warhammer my hobbies include paintball, xbox 360, hiking, fishing, hunting, and other shooting sports. I'm also kinda into cars and play guitar on and off.
I'm a brand new player and am currently only part way through my second game. However, I started collecting models about 4 or 5 years ago. I was only fifteen at the time and found out about
40k through a friend who bought a few models to paint but never actually played. The plan was for us to build up our armies and start playing, but being an impatient and jobless 15 year old meant that those plans died quickly. I did buy several models at that time (
tac squad, predator, dreadnought, emperors champion) and painted them up as
BT's. Without the patience, maturity, or financial means to actually get into the hobby as much as I would have liked to my units got shelfed until about a month ago.
I discovered one of my roommates at college has a respectable
SW's army and I borrowed several units from my old friend who originally showed me his
40k models all those years ago. He lent me several units and I've put together my first 1000 point army and have started playing on my apartment floor with a table marked out in duct tape on the carpet. I've always loved tactics and military strategy (anything from chess, risk, or video games to military history textbooks) I've really been enjoying the technical side of the game and have also started compiling a 2500 point list as well as creating fluff for a Crimson Fists successor chapter. Even though I just started playing i've always been a big fan of the
40k fiction and have read all the Gaunt's Ghost and Horus Heresy books as well as many many other Black Library publications. I also heavily played Dawn of War and it's expansion as well as some of Dawn of War II. I guess what i'm trying to say is i've always been connected to
40K despite not playing and now that I have I think i'm hooked. Hopefully it will develop into a lifelong hobby. Everyone here on the forum is great and I've felt very welcome and gotten alot of help and support already in the short time I've been here. Maybe soon i'll be able to actually contribute my knowledge instead of asking noob questions
Thanks and I'll see you on the battlefield!
