So there I was sitting on the can reading the newest issue of GameInformer. As read a couple articles, I found that I really enjoyed them. As I found that I really enjoyed them it made me think of something else I really enjoyed, DakkaDakka. It then occurred to me that DakkaDakka has a video games forum, but it was a certainty that not all Dakkanauts had a subscription of GameInformer. Why couldn't I share mine? Thus I decided that I would try. The first step being finding out if Dakka was interested.

So here is my proposal: I will write, in full, a copy of any article getting enough interest in each month's GameInformer. The first step would be to list the articles for each issue and letting Dakka show which they would like to read. I'm thinking that any article garnering 50 votes (though this number will be tweaked when the process gets going) will receive a full copy write-down which I will then post for your enjoyment.

Please, just let me know if this is something you would like. If it is, I will then go about thinking out the finer details in the implementation of this idea.

To give those of Dakka who aren't familiar with GI a taste of what each article has to offer, here are all the articles in issue 215 and their quick synopses:

---Andy McNamara's Open letter to Activision- a letter from the editor-in-chief of GI about any subject he wishes (this one of course being a letter commenting on the recent business decisions of Activision)

---Feedback- a collection of fan-written letters to the magazine about various subjects, and the magazine's responses

---Playstation Portable- a fact-filled review of the new product

---Top-Ten Disguises- every month GI does a top-ten list on various things. Most are things found in video games (meaning that this month's is top-ten disguises "in video games")

---Interview with Ice-T- an interview with Ice-T in the form of a Q and A.

---Ironsights- a small article on the various aspects that affect your reticle in FPS games (with a focus on the innovations made by Halo)

---The Other Guys- a guide to understanding middleware and development tools (an article naming and describing various game engines and the like)

---Re-Booted- an article discussing the various thoughts and decisions made when re-booting a gaming franchise

---Who the Heck is Ben Heck- each month GI does an interview with a person in the gaming industry, this month's is with Ben Heck (Ben Heckendorn), a prolific modder (in a
nutshell)

---Tera- an article about the upcoming MMO (this article is this month's "Massive" piece. Massive is a one-page article having to do with an MMO)

---Worldwide Warcraft- the top 5 wow guilds- The top five wow guilds an a paragraph about each

---Impulse- A monthly section having to do with downloadable games, this month's games being Torchlight, Bastion, Beyond Good & Evil, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, Yar's Revenge, Dungeons and Dragons: Daggerdale

---The Independent Spirit- "A spotlight on the 13th Annual Independent Games Festival Awards

---Interview with Nolan Bushnell- another interview like the one with Ice-T. Again a Q and A.

---Gear- a monthly review of gaming related hardware now available for purchase (not the games themselves). This month's: Razor Switchblade laptop, Rock Band 3 Midi PRO-Adapter, Crative Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Omega Headset, Dragon Age Grey Warden Sword Replica

---Opinion- a monthly article written by someone not working for the magazine, but working within the game industry. This month's: The Greenhouse Effect: The Importance of Atmosphere Over Aesthetics

---THE COVER STORY: Battlefield 3- A long in-depth look at whatever GI has deemed the most important article of the month

---Treading New Ground- An in-depth article about the 3DS

---Dragon Age II: The first five hours- an article about GI's hands-on demo of Dragon Age II

---Previews- a monthly section about, you guessed it, previews. This month's: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, MLB 11: The Show, Homefront, Total War: Shogun 2, Dirt 3, Major League Baseball 2K11, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters, The 3rd Birthday, Knights Contract, Top Spin 4, Supremacy MMA, Thor: God of Thunder, Bodycount, Fantastic Pets, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy

---Reviews- a monthly section about, you guessed it again, reviews. This section contains opinions about the games, and gives each game a value based on that opinion on GI's scale of 1-10. The review is GI's official opinion about that game. Some do come with a 2nd look as well (another, shorter review with its own score based on the same point system). This weeks reviews are: Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (the game of the month), Stacking, Two Worlds II, Test Drive Unlimited 2, Mario Sports Mix, Radiant Historia, Pokemon Black/White, Okamiden, Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation, Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together

Notes:
When each issue comes out I will list the articles in a vote-able poll (not necessarily like the one above). They will also contain bits like how long the article is (short, medium, long) and various other facts I deem pertinent to making informed decisions on which article you want to read.

The Previews and Reviews sections will be broken down and vote-able by game due to their length. I will not write every individual preview or review.

Please post letting me know if you would be interested in having me do this or not!

I thought this as well so I did some research before coming to Dakka about it. So long as all credit for the article is given to GI and the author of the article, there is no legal grounds for copyright infringement. This is further helped by the fact that I am in no way incurring profits on the articles. I am merely sharing them for further discussion. What I would be doing is allowing you to do the same thing any magazine stand does. That is to say I allow you to crack open the magazine, read the article you want to read, and then move on.
