Heya guys, once again i'm in need of your wisdom... you see my misses has decided that she too would like to play BFG... and she would like to have the imperium and i have something else... and seeing as i like sleeping in my bed and not on the sofa decided to do as she asked, so i'm making myself an emperor's children 2000pt fleet using one of their cannon ships as my flag (the Agony and the Ecstasy a Battlebarge)
Here is what I have by the way of fleet list atm... also money is an option, so i don't want to get a box of cruisers only to use one of them... :(
Battlebarge 425pts
Warmaster (Ld9) 100pts
Mark of Slaanesh 25pts
Styx Class Heavy Cruiser 275pts
Repulsive Class Grand Cruiser 230pts
Murder Class Cruiser x4 680pts
Devastation Class Cruiser 190pts
TOTAL 1925pts
any advice on improvements would be wonderful, thanks.

Well, it depends on where you are playing / who you are playing with, but taking a battlebarge in a Chaos fleet isn't strictly legal. However, it would be easy enough to use it as a proxy for an existing Chaos battleship. The Despoiler would be a nice fit IMO, and has the advantage of saving you 25 points. Another option you have is to take the Murders as Slaughters, since the models are identical. This will give you a little flexibility/variety in your fleet. Overall though, I would say this is a reasonably solid Chaos fleet!

Unless the enemy has a large amount of escorts. You could be vulnerable to large numbers of squadrons since you don't have any escorts yourself.

well its mainly going to be played with my misses, dad and brother... so a few maliable rules here and there are ok... but if it comes to others i will proxy it as you suggested... what if i made it 2 murders and 2 slaughters instead of 4 murders would that be good??
I really am very appreciative of all the advice you guys give me XD
Oh yeah, upon reading the rules i have found a contradiction.... the ships of the gothic sector states that a warmaster can have 4 marks of chaos on him... but the traitor fleets rules says he can only have 1???

Eh, I don't think that's strictly true. Most fleets don't need escorts to counter escorts, especially Chaos since all their carriers take assault boats as standard. In fact, I would say that Chaos is the best faction for an escort-less build; the whole point of having escorts in a lot of fleets is to provide cheap maneuverable firepower, but Chaos cruisers are cheap enough and shooty enough to allow a commander to do without.

Actually, that's not a contradiction; the way BFG is set up, each faction has different fleet lists that give you different commander options, different ship choices, etc. For example, the 13th Black Crusade list allows you to take Abbadon and/or the Planet Killer, but the Gothic Sector Chaos Incursion list does not.
As for the murder/slaughter question, I actually meant to say Carnage instead of Slaugher . Irregardless, the Murder and Carnage are both pretty solid ships. I would tend to favor the carnage, as that Str 16 broadside is huge and will hurt pretty much anything you shoot it at!

/And this only a minor BFG subforum.
I would also advice some escorts. Infidels or perhaps Iconoclasts.
And something cool: The Styx is going down to 260pts in the new FAQ.
And in the Powers of CHaos pdf the Emperor's Children are getting a real fleet list.

Here is the link Horizon posted in an earlier thread:

Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to keep up with those two recently, but there are a lot of good people to talk to on them. Warseer also has a section on BFG, but it is only marginally more active than the one here at Dakkadakka from what I've seen. There used to be a really good dedicated BFG forum called Port Maw, but unfortunately it got hacked last year and has yet to go back up :(.
EDIT: Actually, I just looked over at the BFG section of Warseer, and there is quite a bit more going on over there than I remember from my last visit!
