Recently got a friend into 40k, he likes SM's so I thought I would look through my old and unused models to see what I could find for him to start out. I had to strip some models but found enough for 2 tactical squads, an assault squad and a devastator squad. Also found 3 bikes, 6 terminators and an Emperors Champion to use as a commander. I have to do some more searching but I am almost sure I have some bits for a command squad as well. I need to buy a few bits to complete some of these models but have most of what I need already.

Here is the color scheme I came up with, something really simple but looks good. left to right- tactical, assault and devastator- veteran- command.

Still working with him on a Chapter name, but we may leave it open so he can use them as DA's or Salamanders.

Here is what I got so far, reasembled the first tac squad last night. On the paper beneath the models you can see some of the squad markings I was thinking about using. Thanks to my daughter for letting me borrow her crayons.

Over the past week I was able to sit down and work on model to figure out the color scheme for my friends army. I had the base colors already thanks to the SM painter, but needed to work out the highlights. Took me a few tries on the green but found a combonation that works. He looks messy, but I had tried three other highlights on him before I got this color so I got tired of being nice and neat only to have to cover it up. Now that I have the colors I want I will go back and touch him up so he is not so messy. Looking at the picture now I need to add some more highlights on the red and white. Easy fix, and aslo have to figure out how to base them.

Great painting, but he looks just like a Dark Angel...

He looked even more like a DA when I had the bolter painted red. I like the green but may end up using another color for the armor, but keep everything else.
