For the heck of it I decided to order from Hobby Link Japan after browsing their site and being blown away by their rather low-low prices. I've ordered a nice model kit and decided to go with Fed Ex shipping, which while the most expensive (Though model + shipping is still cheaper than buying here) shipping method is supposedly the fastest.
Now the thing I'm wondering about is, how reliable is Fed Ex and how fast will they get something from Japan to Europe or more specifically, the Netherlands? My order isn't processed until Monday, I'm not impatient, just curious.

It's the other way round, but I sent a small package First Class mail from Los Angeles to Japan on the 19th and it arrived on the 22nd!

Nice! Well, here's hoping it won't take more than a week or so. Then again, I'm not impatient. /liar

I have had experience with HLJ. I used fedex and it got to my place in less than a week.

I used to work for Fed Ex and the only thing that ever really slowed our International Shipments were Custom's as long as all the paperwork was in order your shipment should be there pretty quickly

Fed Ex is very reliable and you can track the parcel on the website.
EMS is also very good but tracking updates are slower.

I've had shipments from HLJ take a while, but that may have been as (int he past) some stuff was 'bought as needed', specifically the n-scale terrain I was interested in.

It was shipped Monday and has arrived in Paris two hours ago, Fedex says the delivery will take place this Friday at 18:00. Giddygiddygiddy.
I'm quite surprised that HLJ hasn't taken payment yet though.
