Hello!
Ive noticed that some people change the names of their threads, with updates and dates and things.
This is the only forum Ive properly used so im a little bit clueless when it comes to these things.
How do you do it? I dont need to do it now but I probably will in comming days/weeks.

Correct, you dust hit the "edit" button on the first post in your thread. This allows you to change the subject line as well as the body of the post.

I recently updated one of my Trade topics. I edited the 1st post and changed the title. Does that count as my post for the topic so I can't post a reply to it for 4 days?

You should PM a swap shop moderator, they know the ins and outs of the rules, because they're responsible for maintaining them!
However, the point of the rule is to prevent people from bumping their threads needlessly, but editing your post does NOT bump the thread, so it should not affect how long between when you are allowed to bump the thread.
