...and I have a few questions.

1. Is there a rulebook update due anytime soon? I don't want to buy the book just to have to buy a new one a few months from now.

2. Is this game doing well? It looks like my FLGS has two Malifaux nights a week, but again, I don't want to buy into this new game just to risk it petering out and Wyrd shutting down anytime soon.

I think that's all. I just started 40k a few months ago, and while I'm liking it, the cost in $ and time is a little off-putting (I have around 1500pts in Space Marines but I can't build a great list from that, and painting all that is incredibly time-consuming).

1. Rulebook just updated as in they released a smaller one without the Fluff but with all the updated rules in it. It doesn't have the individual model rules in it though like the big one did, but you get the cards with them on them with the models anyway.

2. As far as I know it's going well. I don't think there would be a risk of it vanishing any time soon.

1. Your going to wan't to look for the new rules manual. If it isn't in stock at your FLGS it should be soon, as they just got the rest of their order in. The rules manual will cost you $15, has all of the errata and FAQ added in, as well as a ton of diagrams, but has none of the model stats or fluff. Its a great book. There is a rumor that they are going to update the first book to reflect the updated rules, but I have know idea when that is going to be or if its even true.

2. They just moved into a bigger warehouse. They are releaseing a new game called Puppet Wars. Work is being done on the 3rd Book. There is a rumor of a Malifaux RPG. I would say they are running strong.

As far as painting Malifaux being less time consumeing then painting 40k I look at it this way. My Malifaux crews and my 40k Salamaders took be about the same amount of time to paint, while I may own less Malifaux models they are painted to a much higher standard then my 40k Salamanders.

Everything Catyrpelius said I can agree with.

They've been very busy moving into a new warehouse, producing new models, puppet-wars, book 3. The game also seems to be picking up steam lately. I started about a year ago and there were a whole 3 people who played. In the past 3 months we've now got a solid 30 players in the area.

I definitely recommend getting into it if you have the time & $. The money is much less than warhammer for a single crew. In Highly Competitive play it will increase as many tournament have a "Choose your faction" system. So the more models you have to choose from the better off you'll be. As for painting I spend about the same time on an entire squad of marines as I do on one Malifaux model but my Malifaux models look MUCH better.
