Glyph- Yes, I always start with an undercoat of medium grey since I prime white. Then I basecoat in light grey and mix in white as I highlight and do edging in pure white. I use VMC/VGC and the colors are Cold Grey, Stone Grey, and Dead White. I believe the Citadel equivalents are Codex Grey, Fortress Grey, and Skull White.
VicStaUK- I love giving things a glass or gem effect. The key is smooth transitions. I use washes to help blend transitions. Basically, just thin down a dark red (alot) to help blend the layers. I also use a thinned black in the recesses and a thin black line under the white "highlight" point to reinforce the effect. Wet blending isn't necessary if you work in layers, but certainly a good way to do it for those who can!
