Hi all,
After playing multiple games of 40k, I thought I would join the club of those who write battle reports. My plan is to continually add on to this thread for each game that I play. To give a general summary, here is what I play and what my regular game mates field:
Havok 210 - Space Marines (Ultramarines)
Havok 210's lady - Witchhunters
Mechabeast - Tau
So here goes:
Battle Report - Havok 210 (Space Marines) v. Mechabeast (Tau)
Game - 1,000 point annihilation
Space Marine Force
Captain Sicarius
Tactical Marine Squad
Scout Squad w/ Rhino
Venerable Dreadnought
Terminators
Tau Force
Shas El w/ 2 Body Guards
XV8 x 2
Firewarriors
Kroot
Piranah x 2
Pathfinders w/ Devilfish Transport
XV88 x 2
Ionhead
Turn 1 - I advanced forward with full intentions of drawing first blood. The Venerable was able to drop the Tau HQ in one shot from his Lascannon. The Tau advanced later with intentions of flanking the Dreadnought and Captain Sicarius.
Turn 2 - Sicarius and the Terminators advanced and disabled the weapons of one Devilfish while the Dreadnought gave hell to the other. The Tactical Squad advance to meet the main assault force while the Rhino did the same. The Tau counterstrike took some of my tactical marines and disabled my Rhino from advancing any further. Tau heavy support could not roll a success as the dreadnought continued its rampage.
Turn 3 - With the Kroot as reserve and not in the game, I made my offensive push to take control of the board. Casualties continued to pile up as the Ionhead fell victim to a lazcannon shot and the Devilfish were disabled. Terminators took casualties as the Tau attempted to avenge their fallen comrades.
Turn 4 - Casualties contine to mount on both sides as the Tau transport explodes killing some Firewarriors. But, the Kroot arrive!!! More Terminator losses as Marker lights made the Kroot much more effective.
Turn 5 - My Venerable was still able to survive heavy support shots from the Tau. Sicarius advanced to slay more of the enemies front line forces. More Kroot file wounds him, but he is not out yet.
Turn 6 - The game ends on this turn as the final kill goes to the Kroot for slaying Sicarius.
Final Tally - Mechabeast was victorious by a few points. Had Sicarrius survived, the Space Marine banner would have been raised that day.
I hope you enjoyed the battle report! :-)

some editing notes.
Shas'el and company were deathrain variants
Elites were Burning eye variants
Turn ones casualty was a broadside not the HQ
Piranha were casualties on turn 2,3 not the transport fish

Your basic Arachnid warrior isn't too smart, but you can blow off a limb, and it's still 86 percent combat effective. Here's a tip: Aim for the nerve stem, and put it down for good. |

Thanks for the edits.
That just tells me I need to ask more questions about your stuff and learn what's what in the Tau. :-)

Thanks ibushi!
He was indeed on fire that game. Clearly my MVP.
Thanks for the info on marker lights. I will confer with my buddy to make sure we play it right next time. :-)
