Ok im going to try to write this.
Me=Tyranids
Him=Chaos

I had-
Hive Tyrant, Wings Warp Blast, 2 ST
BL, Five stealer bodyguard +Sv
2 Lictors
2 Zoanthropes, Warp blast, Synapse
8 Stealers +Sv
8 Stealers +Sv
10 Hormaguants
10 Spineguants
3 Raveners, ST, RC, each their own squad of 1
Carnifex, Two twin devoures
Carnifex, VC, BS


He had-
Defiler
2 Obliterators
Rhino
10(?) Bloodletters
1 Chaos Lord(?) (Really big with a sword and a claw hand, MC I think.)
Tactical Squad 10, Lascannon, Plasma gun
Tactical Squad 10, Lascannon, Plasma gun
Devastator 6, 4 Heavy Bolters
Daemonettes 10
5 Bikers


Ok. we rolled for terrain, double two's. That meant 4 pieces of terrain on a 4 by 6 board. Two of the pieces were at the corners, and the other two were in the middle on the sides. I set my army in a refuse flank postions to utilize the two terrain peices I had. Both of the Genestealer squads on the left along with a zoan and a ravener. On the right i had everything else (Flyrant, Zoan, 2 Ravs, Horms and Spines, BL and body guard in the forest on the right side). The two carni's set up in the open closer to the middle (no where else to put them). He set his defiler and obliterators in the terrain in the corner of the stealers side. Everything else was lined up at the very edge of the boardaround the middle.


Turn1
Me first, advance everything puttting as much as possible into cover. BS misses and he saves the VC.

Stays put and pops 6 stealers with the defiler and the obliterators take out the last two. Moves his rhino right in front of the other squad of stealers. Turbocharges his bikes 24 inches to the center.

Turn 2
Advance, stealers take out rhino explodes, one dies. Carnifex with devourers takes out 2 bikes. Snipe fex kills the defiler with the VC (XD). 1 Lictor shows up and is crushed by the two defilers.=( Hormaguants make it the the last three bikes and finish them.

He stays put, Flyrant takes two wounds, Bloodletters show up and charge the Hormaguants, The Big chaos lord thing with wings also joins the Hormies. Zoanthrope on the left side gets knocked out by obliterators. Two more stealers gone from heavy bolters. All five of the body guard for the BL die.


Turn 3
Devourfex takes out about 3 bloodletters, flyrant charges the bloodletters. the two raveners on the right side charge a tactical squad. Zoan misses his warp blast. Snipe fex takes out a couple tactical marines. devourfex kills 3 from the devastator squad. No lictor.

His daemonettes arrive and whip my devourfex, bloodletters are finished and the BL and Flyrant take down the big winged daemon. Obliterators leave two stealers alive. Snipefex gets wounded Flyrant is done. 1 ravener is popped.

By now
I have-
2 wounds on snipefex
2 raveners
1 Zoan
10 Spineguants
Brood Lord
Lictor

He has-
both obliterators
2 almost full tactical squads
4 heavy bolters
8 daemonettes



Turn 4
Ravener charges obliteratos, gets crushed, Ravener on the right side gets killed snipefex kills all but two heavy bolters from devastator squad. Zoan misses. Licotr arrives but his obliterators are two far away.

Daemonettes finishes off snipefex, licotr fails two 3+ saves in the woods. Zoan is popped.


Now....

Brood Lord
10 Spineguants

He has
2 Obliterators
2 heavy bolters
8 daemonettes
8 man tactical squad.


Turn 5
Brood Lord kills the last two heavy bolters


He kills Brood Lord



Well... 4 pieces of terrain didnt help. Also, I rolled a grand total of 2 rending attacks. His daemonettes showed up at the perfect time to pop my fexes. my lictors did nothing. There was just too much open room for the stealers to manage. Any thoughts??? Any suggestions on how I can balance my list even more? perhaps dropping the raveners and adding a fex?

 

Is he even allowed to take bloodletters and daemonettes in the same army? Oh and by the way the big thing is called the daemon prince. <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Yeah, you can mix daemon types in an army as long as you don't play one of the cult lists that limits what marks the army can have in it.

The biggest thing I can think of would be to try playing with 25% terrain instead of rolling randomly for how many pieces you get. Give that a shot next time and see if it helps. Sometimes you just end up having to play out of a disadvantage from the start of the game - chalk it up to experiance and give it another go.
