Hi everyone, recently got back into the hobby and I'm looking for other gamers in the area...

Hello!

I know there's a facebook page out there for the group NJ Gamers that might be able to help you out. I know for a fact that there was another south jersey thread not too long ago, but this particular forum gets a lot of traffic, so it probably got buried.

One thing that would help a lot is if you could give a slightly better idea of what part of south jersey you're in. From my experience, the boundaries of south, central, and north jersey are all kind of blurry.

Definitely specify. Down here in way South Jersey(border of Gloucester & Salem Counties), we believe the border is quite a bit south of where some of the central-ish guys do...

What's a pretty close big town?

Oh yeah, that's pretty south Don't know that area very well, but I do know you're pretty within range of a couple of gaming stores and GW shops.

You've got a GW store in Echelon Village, NJ and Cottman, PA - about 10 and 20 miles from you, respectively.

Your closest store is Viking Games (~6 miles) in Blackwood, followed by Alternate Universe (Holmes, PA) and Redcap's Corner (Locust Street in Philly). All of those are reasonably close.

Now, here's what I've learned about gaming shops in the US... WHFB is always on the shelves, but hardly ever visible on the calendars or on the tables. Most places usually have 40K days set aside in the evening or on the weekend, but the low numbers of fantasy players means there's little call to set aside time and space for a single day.

Go in on a 40K day (or a slow day - not Tuesday for a comic shop) and chat up the manager a bit and ask what the WHFB community in their store is like, what armies get played, and so on. Usually, they know of a handful of people who like to play, but lack opponents. In my case, this usually results in one or two people saying they'll bring in their FB armies to the 40K day next week because they've been wanting to try it out, but haven't for lack of opponents.

Thanks for all the info Strelka!

The closest GW store to me, the one in Echelon Village does a fair job, however there is a huge 40k crowd, I mean like massive. I hit the store once or twice a week and its rare to see anyone playing fantasy, theres just a lot of 40k players and since I'm newer to the area and just getting back into the hobby I'm trying to find like-minded gamers.

I actually did this, and while the management has been helpful and I have picked up a few games, Id just like to find some more players closer to me. I'm not sure if you're from NJ but if its say like only 10 miles away, thats easily a 25 minute ride with traffic and roads haha.

Like I said, thanks a ton for the advice!

You are in my turf. I live in Swedesboro.

I'd love to get a game some time, but I don't have a table at my place... Oh, and I have a couple of big, crazy dogs that can intimidate some people.

I go over to Alternate Universes in Holmes on some Wednesdays. They are trying to get WHFB going, and there are some players there, but usually you'd need to set up a game to get fantasy.

The manager at the echelon GW is a good guy, but sadly there really is no direct route there from down here.

You're welcome to come to my place, I've got a 3 1/2' x 5' kitchen table that we could run something on, I'm still newish and need some help on the correct order of things, but its just lack of practice.
