I have been wondering, what would the God Emperor think of the Imperium in its current state? He wanted to end superstition and the barbarism of the age of strife. The Imperium however encourages superstition and distrust of psychers, xenos etc. The Imperium is also a pretty bloody regime. I know its for the survival of humanity in all. Im curious to know what he would think of his Empire though if he were to say come back. We can spend hours debating eather hell come back or how so please stick to what he would think. I know the Chaos gods helped to currupt Horus by showing him the post-Heresy Imperium making him think this is what it would become. So he obviously did not like it so i dont really think the Emperor would.

Think? I do not believe what he thought about the current state would matter. He would keep his return secret and take in all the info he could about the current state of things. Then make his public return a loud celebration and use the momentum to push for gradual, non-disruptive changes that would bring his Imperium back to where he wants it to be over the course of a century or so. There is nothing for Big-E or his Imperium to gain by getting angry/fire and brim-stoney.

He'd be majorly disappointed what with him being a "militant atheist", lots of head cracking would inevitably ensue if he returned.

I wonder myself many times: do Emperor really wants for Humanity to destroy every other race in the galaxy?
Judging by the think I hear about his opinion if he wakes up makes me wonder if he really hates aliens that much to exterminate them all?

In Legion, iirc, a bunch of aliens that knew the future said that if Horus killed the Emperor, humanity would die off and Chaos would end, but if the Emperor won, Chaos would win in the long run. Since beating Chaos was on the Emperor's list, Alpharius/Omegon sided with Horus.

Anyway, I think that the Emperor would be extreeeeeemly upset about the current state of the Imperium.

I think he would be unhappy as well. The Imperium has become everything he wanted to end.

He would sure be really pissed off. I guess he would also feel really disappointed by His (un)Worthy Subjects. Maybe he would give up, tell us to piss off and then leave for some distant corner of the galaxy.

I think the emperor would however, be astute enough to realise that in a galaxy where everything other than humans (including them too) wants to destroy his imperium, having them believe in something, even if it is him and even if he doesn't like it, has a value greater than what denying/abolishing would get him.

To be honest, his main reason for getting rid of religion and supersition etc was that it was so fractured, with every planet believing in differnt things, it'd never work, but a Imperium unified under worship of him, just might.
