I had a great time this year at Adepticon. All of my opponents were fair individuals, and I would gladly play a game with them again. The staff and judges were also good and there were very few hiccups throughout the weekend.
One experience really stands out and I feel the need to share it with the community. I played in the Saturday morning Combat Patrols, and had a very good go at it. I tabled 3 of my opponents, and picked up 24 out of 30 points against the one I did not. I was feeling very confident about my chances for best general or best overall. When they announced the awards, I received none of them.
My friends and I were bemused by this, so we asked them to look at the scores. The judged showed them to me, and they had forgotten to enter my score for the last round and had given me a 0. He went back, found my results sheet, re-entered my score, and it bumped me from 4th overall to best overall. Realizing his mistake, he immediately apologized and asked what I wanted. He game me some prizes, and later asked me for my address so they could send me a plaque.
To whoever got best overall that combat patrol, if you read this, you are equally deserving of the award that you received and should not feel that your victory is tarnished or undeserving. I do not know how they are going to post this on the Adepticon results page, but I really don't care at this point. Everyone has been a reasonable adult about this, and I thank them.
I really want this in no way to mar the record of Adepticon, rather to show that they take the time and effort to fix any problems. The tournament judge was a really good guy.
