So I just finished listening to Garro: Legion of One. My thoughts;

Spoiler:
Good:

-- First====YES LOKEN IS BACK. My favorite character of the series thus far and the most human space marine they've written.
-- Looks like this is the last recruit----which means they can move on to Grey Knights---fighting some chaos
-- Garro continues to be my second favorite character----pretty good dialogue for him in this
-- Sound effects were probably the best BL has put out so far---not over done but added some atmosphere
-- I liked the idea of them forming new identities (Cerberus, Garro most likely Janus, etc)...but it goes bad too (see below)

Bad:

-- Ok, Loken is traumatized by losing his friend and legion---and I understand BL wants them to form new identities (Cerberus, Janus likely, etc)----but really they lost a lot of Loken's character with the madness bit. Then at the end, he's suddenly "Ok, let's go". Let him retain his former personality a bit more---
-- Pretty linear plot with no action I was vested in whatsoever. I had no interest in them fighting the plagued survivors---and didn't feel any drama there.
-- Felt like a filler in the series at the end
-- Who the hell is the World Eater? Just an opposing/naysayer to add to the group for literary props?

Overall----A solid B+ Would have been a B or B- but I like Loken---I hope they bring back more of his humanity.

Agreed on the sound FX ... really added to the mood.

I didn't like the way Garro's accent has changed since the previous audiobook ... in this one, he sounds dangerously close to that syllable-mangling Ultramarine captain from Oath of Moment.

Spoiler:
It's my theory that only the main man in any Toby Longworth-voiced audiobook is permitted to speak in a sensible fashion ... as Loken's the star turn here, he's the one who (eventually) gets to talk like a normal person.

I quite like the idea of a World Eater being involved in the founding of the Grey Knights. Was it co-authored by Matt Ward?

Oh ... maybe I'm wrong, but I don't recall any Loyalist Titans being destroyed on Istvaan 3. Am I mistaken?
