Ork Boy Hangin' off a Trukk

Dover, UK

Dropped down to my local GW today and had a pretty sick battle, I do not have exact lists and did not take photos (only just occured to me to do a Battle Report)

So without further ado, the rough lists.

Orks vs IG

Ork Player 1: Me

HQ:
Warboss in Mega Armour

Troops:
20 boyz, big shootas, nob.
20 Ard boyz, big shootas, nob with pk.
4 Meganobs with kombi weapons.
2 Trukks

Elites:
5 Burnas

Heavy Support:
3 Killa Kans
1 BattleWagon.

Ork Player number 2: Chris

(I kid you not)

HQ:
1 Big Mek with KFF

Troops:
5 x 30 Boys each squad with 3 big shootas and 1 PK nob.

That's it. 151 models for him.

IG player 1: Ian
(as far as I'm aware)

1 x vulture.
2 x Valyries filled with elysian drop troopers and some scanner thing that makes some shots twin linked.

I don't know many specifics to be honest.

IG player 2: Connor.

command squad,
Sentinel
stormtroopers
bunch of heavy weapons squads.
something like a platoon of guardsmen. it was quite a few shots..
Leman Russ

Pre Match Thoughts:
Thank god they don't have many template weapons
We played the mission "WAAAGH" from the battle missions book. so we all set up at least 9 inches away from the center of the table. but since we were confined to a 4 x 4 we stuck with 3 objectives. all three along the center line.
one on my side, one on the other and one nicely in the middle.

First turn went to the guard those lucky cowards

Guard Turn 1 :

IG player 1, Moved all his flyers forward and disembarked some troopers straight onto the ruins of one objective, giving the guard an early lead. while the second valkyrie disembarked some troops further back to provide covering fire. Including that zogging scanner thing. he shot a bunch of flyer weapons all at my horde friends army not killing loads to be honest.. IG player 2, then decided to first rank fire second rank fire his squad of 50 guardsmen and IG player 1 decided to use some order that makes them all twin linked. Doesn't matter that they're Lasguns, 150 twinlinked shots are gonna put a downer on your Waaagh. he aimed them at the horde rather than me which I quite enjoyed, this took out a grand total of about 12 boys.
Then began a coordinated shooting at my zogging vehicles. by the end of turn 1 I had lost 2 Trukks (one lost it's gun and immobilised and one exploded) inside of these were my burnas and Meganobs who all escaped unscathed. I also lost a killa kan and lost 3 burnas to shooting from stormtroopers.

Ork Turn 1 :
My strategic genius of an opponent decided to shunt his boys forward (most of them OOP and awesome) and I did the same. at the end of movement I held one objective and my teammate held one and contested the other.
The shooting from us was decidedly uneventful on the first turn, although those burnas managd to kill over half of the stormtroopers with some help from the battlewagon, the kannon of which managing to slay some of those dastardly guardsmen. the rest of the shooting was potshots from sluggas and shootas who mostly missed and my rokkits and zzap guns managing to not even dent those zogging flyers!

Guardsmen turn 2 :
uh oh.

we were in range of a lot of shooting here, which my boys weathered very well. my meganobs refusing to go down to anything, plasma guns, las cannons, battle cannons, nothing could hurt them. the guard contesting the ruin objective decided to run like ...guardsmen... so we were holding all three
lots of shooting from those flyers took out a very large chunk of my teammates boys (he removed more models than I had on the table, and still at 2/3rds left.) this was accompanied by more heavy weapon squad damage to my orks. (lost another killa kan and several Ard Boyz)

Ork turn 2 :
A collective shunt forward while firing everything we could, that easily sums up that turn. still no damage to the flyers, the leman russ was out of range of anything that could hurt it. but with a mass of about 80 sluggas and big shootas. we managed to cut the guardsmen down to half, they failed their moral check and ran off the table. Stupid Umies.
burnas killed some more stormtroopers and wounded all of the heavy weapons teams. to be finished off with some sluggas from my Ard Boys. Mega nobs shot at some stormtroopers as they fled cut down a few.

Guardsmen Turn 3 (due to time constraints their last)
Lot's of damage this round, Those flyers managed to take out a fair sized chunk of boys, I think only about 60 left at the end of shooting.
That leman russ managed to take out 2 meganobs and a sentinel charged my ard boys in combat so i wouldn't attack the heavy weapons.
battlewagon was disabled, and I lost 4 ard boys to lasguns before they were charged. more peetering attempts to get me off the objective failed as I had 3 scoring units on it, as well as 1 from my teammate.

Ork Turn 3 (final)
we pretty much shot absolutely everything in desperation. my Zzap guns managing to roll 10 on all of them. loving it. managed to destroy one weapon on a valkyrie.
about 80 sluggas into one elysian squad destroyed it, plus a bunch of big shootas from me took out some heavy weapons teams and the kannon took out another.
we also brought they're command squads down to one man each.

end of game = resounding victory for the orks.

Learnt a lot and enjoyed myself. outstanding
