1 CDN Dollar = 1.05 US
Price of Tyranid Battleforce at LGS = $130 CDN
Price of Tyranid Battleforce at GW Cdn Site = $130 CDN
Price of Tyranid Battleforce at GW US Site = $105 US = $100 CDN
Best Price I can find online at a Canadian Store = $117 CDN
Best Price I can find online at a US Store = $95 USD = $90.60 CDN

Yargh. This pricing disparity is from the 90s... Even if I were to order from the US, I'll be dinged by shipping and duty.

/end rant

Like others I will keep track of spending (starting May2011):
GW Models $2730 (new mat)
GW Books $600
BL Books $260
GW Supplies $195

Runnin up on ya.

Miniature Market has them for $78.75 (USD) and offers shipping to Canada...

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Not much of a difference from euro prices.

Their prices are bad, yes, but the choice is simply don't buy, support a FLGS (if possible), eBay or an online store that offers GW stuff at a discount.

I'm not sure which one is best for Canada though, might be Warstore, but not sure. They made all the prices even a while ago then forgot to continue to balance them as their currancyy changes, except they keep it fair by giving everyone a price increase at the same time.

MiniWarGaming is a Canada based store and has a 15% discount as standard I think, and has sales every three months or something along those lines. Either way they're good guys and they're well supported on both sides of the pond.

Makes you feel any better you can get it for $97 from GW UK.

The best part about that is GW wont let you order from the GW US site and ship to Canada, despite the fact that every order comes from Memphis anyway.

You can order the same thing and pay the same shipping and is shipped out of the same place but they want to charge you $25 more because you're in Canada. Last time it took GW 2 years to adjust to the strong Canadian dollar and the 3 days to adjust it back when it dropped to .90 cents.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Are there any other factors to take into account? How does the tax differ between the two countries? I don't really know anything about other countries tax systems, but it may be something that needs considering.

Nothing to account for a 30%+ difference in prices.

I personally order from Maelstrom or Wayland games in the UK.

Bought a Zoanthrope at the local GW; $30 Canadian
Bought 2 Zoans and a Carnifex from Maelstrom; $74 Canadian, had to wait 2 weeks for it to arrive, but it's worth saving $50+.

It's a disparity between Canadian and American pricing from when our dollar was worth .75 instead of 1.05. Pricing hasn't adjusted to keep up. It happens with everything from miniatures to books and video games to cars. It's cheaper for me to buy a plane ticket to the US, buy a new vehicle and drive it back by several thousand dollars (there's legal issues with doing this though...stupid international trade laws!)
