Hey people,
New battle report, new chance for glory to the Emperor.
We tried a small game to see how things went.

Thoughts before the game: Grey knights… Okay, my opponent brings two troop choices? Followed by an “YOUR
HQ IS WHAT?! HOW MANY POINTS IS THAT?!” moment. Luckily, we played an objective mission and there were plenty of objectives.
My opponent deployed on one edge of the board while I spread out against the back of my side.
My opponent got the first turn and I failed to sieze.
“We all heard disturbing reports in this area, Deamons would pretend to be Grey Knights in order to kill us. I dearly hope that whatever wicked horror made this up will be slaughtered by the Emperor. However, I would meet them sooner then expected. We were about to set up our camp when Tuck McNitt pointed at something across the skyline. We saw a couple of Grey Knights standing in the distance. I wasn’t certain if it were real Grey Knights or the imposers. I fired a flare into the air to get their attention…”
TURN 1:
My opponent runs forward with everything.
“They turned towards us and started running. I still wasn’t certain wether it were Grey Knights or the Imposers.”
I move forward with my Rough Riders, the rest of my troops wait for the enemy to come at me. I didn't have any idea what was gonna happen...
“The Bataviran Scouts went forward, our intentions were still friendly. Still I ordered Sparky to get into contact with HQ, we might need reinforcements.”
Turn 2:
My opponent runs forward with Kaldor, the others move forward and inflict some casualties.
“Then they started firing at us. They had to be Deamons! We started firing at them. Sparky immediately called out for reinforcements. They would come, but we had to hold out for now…”
I split of the Priest from an infantry squad. The Rough Riders go to one objective, the infantry advances behind it. The other Rough Riders charge the group of three paladins. Followed by an “YOUR HALBARD DOES WHAT?!” moment. Two Rough Riders get killed and a paladin suffers a wound.
“I was so confused that I called out for our Ministorum Priest, she would know if this were the imposers. At the same time, our Scouts charged the Imposers. Their impetuousness, famous throughout the Imperium, would become their downfall. Their weapons weren’t strong enough...”
Turn 3:
The paladins advance and fire, killing four guardsmen. The other paladins kill the Rough Riders squad.
Kaldor gets in close combat, a WHAT DOES HE DO?! moment happens and he kills some guardsmen. Because of the commissar, the group remains standing.
“The commander, a big large brute, thundered forward and got into close combat. I heard a Guardsman muttering it reminded him of his mother... Our commissar prevented the troops from fleeing.”
My turn, everything moves forward and I even manage to kill a paladin! Kaldor slaughters two more guardsmen.
“A brave meltagunner fired at one of the Imposers. The Daemon vanished into thin air.”
Turn 4:
My opponent advances and Kaldor keeps hitting little Guardsman. Only the commissar is left.
“The large Daemon slaughtered an entire infantry squad, slashing, stabbing, stomping all around him, yet the commissar kept on fighting. The bravery really suits a man of such honour. ”
Fighting was so intense, that I couldn't take a good picture!
Marbo arrives and doesn’t hurt anyone… Everything advances and our lone commissar gets killed in a heroic last stand.
“Eventually, the brave commissar went down. He went as a real man should, a gun in one hand, a powersword in the other, cursing at the enemy and up onto your own knees into your own blood...”
Turn 5:
My opponent moves around and goes for the objectives. One paladin squad attacks my
PCS hiding in the ruins, killing two. The other paladins fire at the
CCS killing 4.
“Sparky told me that the reinforcements were coming. They were almost here. When I looked at him, his face was blown off. His blood came into my face… The Imposers were firing at my retinue and killed all besides me. The Emperor had mercy upon me.”
Now is the time to act. Everything goes for the objectives. The
PCS hiding in the ruins fires at the paladins but fails to wound. Marbo goes into Close Combat with the Grey knights, but he dies.
“I wiped the blood out of my eyes and ordered my army to strategic positions. This would be over soon…”
Turn 6:
Kaldor turns around and moves towards the objective. One paladin squad wiped out the
PCS, thus ensuring that he had and objective.
The other hunker down on the other objective.
“The enemy tried to take strategic firing positions, so they had the advantage of height, we had to deny it from them.”
The Rough Riders stop near the objective, but don’t go in Close combat. The same goes for the priest.
“All or nothing… I ordered our Scouts to drive the Imposers off their ground. Our Priest in her enthousiasm, ran after them."
Then the reinforcements arrived and the Imposers launched into them, completely forgetting us… The Leman Russ tanks destroyed them. The Battle cannons obliberated their armor. We won this time and I certainly hope we never encounter such a threat again...
May the Emperor be smile on you..”
Kapita’n Detlev Vordon, 197th Bataviran.
END: My opponent holds 1 objective and contests 1, I hold 2 objectives and contest 1.
Learned: Grey knights are near impossible to beat… I only inflicted 1 casualty, while the half of my forces died. It was because my opponent his lack of troops that I managed to win… And Kaldor is unstoppable… I wonder what I have to do against another Grey Knight opponent? Perhaps bringing more troops?
Comments and such are welcome.
Could someone check the Grey Knight points? It looks so rubbish like this... Thank you!
