Well after searching the interwebz for rumors of a new installment of my personal favorite fighting game I stumbled upon this:

I'm really looking forward to this. I still play Soul Calibur 4 and it is definitely time for a new release.

What are y'all hoping for? I kinda liked the Conquest mode in the third game. It'd be interesting to see it revived.

I always preferred soul caliber to MK so I will definitely be paying attention to this.

In the next soul calibur Ivy would have to be full nude and sophitia would have her own beach vollyball minigame. It's the natural law that is preventing them from releasing another.

If Ivy gets any less cover we'll be looking at exposed muscle and adipose deposits, seeing as though it seems like her thing it may just well happen. Then there's Sophitia and Cassandra, oh Sophitia and Cassandra the only characters I know who use fanservice as a weapon.

Most likely will stay; I'm certain they are trying to steal some of Mortal Kombat's glory with those.

And the ONLY reason I say that is because MK is the only Mainstream game with Finishing Moves, I do beleive.

I played a lot of SCIV so a new one will be cool, but I'm more looking forward to MK.

I've been owned by too many impossible combos on SC...

Well the newest Mortal Kombat is already out, so we can stop talking about that. MK is a 2d fighter, and Soul Calibur is a 3d fighter. Apples and Oranges. (I have MK9 [or whatever you call it] and I like it. Soul Calibur is a different animal.)

Soul Calibur Director Daishi Odashima confirmed when asked by a follower on twitter that the bonus character would not be returning in the next game.

“I’ll be honest with you. Sorry to say but she won’t be back.”

Shura used a dual Katana to take down opponents and was a very popular character in the last game.

Isn't Voldo a big claws/blades hands and feet guy? It's been a while.

While not the greatest of Games, Mace the Dark Years had the best lineup of characters IMO.

They could steal the morning star/Shield combo or executioner's axe from that one. Or, the Dwarf in Steam powered Dreadnought.

Yeah, she was sorta of a minor character because she was merely a clone of Cervantes. Same fighting style and everything. Can't say I'll be disappointed.

Oh yeah, silly me. I guess I was thinking more of a martial arts-type fighting style with the weapons like Ryu from Ninja Gaiden.


On a side note: Not really a bad thing but the character creation causes me to not use the original characters. Anyone else do the same thing?

There were four hidden characters that were reskins of series mainstays designed by four "Guest" artists to the series. Shura was one of them and was copying cervantes. They had no involvement to the story and information on them basically came down to a single paragraph in the trophy section of the game. Some of their backstories were horrendously written. I prefer the clockwork golem girl that copied asteroth mysself. Shura was just an excuse for more boob physics and had an utterly generic design.

Now, I think the whole series ought to go the direction they were headed with Hilde; less fanservice, more fightin'.

I like how Seigfreid won't be coming back, he was always annoying.(I started with SC2, which he wasn't in. Sue me.)

I hope they go for more traditional Fantasy guest characters, if any.

The Finishing moves never bothered me because I only played with my brother, and neither of us could do them.

Star Wars characters: OUT! I never did like that part...

Upgrades to the character creations. I LOVE creating characters in SC4, possibly my favorite part. I rarely (if ever) use standard characters, and believe me, that's a huge bonus in my eyes. I'd love to see them make it even better, tons more options (especially hair styles).

All that said, I sunk countless hours into creating characters from one of the books I'm writing, it's so great to see them in the Soul Calibur universe.

Where is this information coming from, might I have a link? I'd like to stay up to date on it. Siegfried not returning bums me out, I hope his fighting style remains in the game because I'm a beast with it. I also very much hope that Amy returns.

Of all the 3D fighters, Soul Calibur has always been my preference (even though it uses a block button).

Boo, of all the re-skinned clones Shura wouldn't be the one I'd put in (I prefer the Oni girl, complete with colour sets for Red Oni and Blue Oni).

I hope they make it classier than 4, but I'm not holding my breath.

The character designer was kind of fun in 4 though, I get to play Siegfried without using Siegfried for example.

Only if it ends up on the wii, where I can actually play it. Preferably where I can paly it with my gamecube controller instead of the wiimote...

I remember 2 on the Gamecube. Was quite good. Might get it but I've got a loong list of games I need already. Avoiding portal spoilers is getting harder by the day.

Cervantes did have a gun-dagger thing that he could use to shoots people. Last time I checked you cannot shoot someone with a katana, only slice and stab them. Trust me I tried.

I loved Soul Calibur on my Dreamcast. That game alone made me buy the system and I'm still pissy that Sega gave up like a buncha babies in the face of competition. 3DO did the same thing too.
