Hi there. This is just a short battle report of a small skirmish game of twenty models, ten models per team. This match was played with basic 40k rules, and took about half an hour to play. For simplicity's sake, all models were considered to have identical stats (below).

Stats:
WS - 3
BS - 3
S - 3
T - 3
W - 1
A - 1
LD - 4+
SV - 4+

Objective: The game lasts six turns. The team with the most models left wins.

Deployment:
In the centre of the board lie four buildings, which group to form a courtyard. Both teams deploy on opposite sides of the town.

Turn 1:
The two forces move toward the town, covering both flanks. Neither side is yet in range, and so no shooting commences.

Turn 2:
The two opposing teams begin to enter the courtyard, coming within range of each other's weapons. Shots are fired, though the only casualty is one unfortunate Guardsman, whose head is shredded apart by the Tyranids' gruesome living ammunition.

Turn 3:
Unturned by the demise of their comrade, the two teams of Guardsmen each form a firing line and begin to fire upon the invading enemy. Lasweapons crack and searing beams of light lance toward the scuttling forms of the Tyranids, though only two are felled. In return, another Guardsmen is killed.

Turn 4:
The Guardsmen on the Western flank continue to lay down a ferocious hail of fire on the enemy, killing another two as they enter the courtyard. The Guardsmen to the East however are charged by the approaching Tyranids, though they hold the line as the alien menace closes in.

Turn 5:
A vicious melee erupts between the two forces, as bayonets plunge through skeletal carapaces and talons screech against body armour. Ultimately however, the Tyranids come through and a total of four Guardsmen are cut apart by alien claws. In return, a single Tyranid is killed.

Turn 5 (cont)
With their comrades falling around them, the surviving Guard panic and attempt to retreat. But the bloodthirsty Tyranids offer no quarter, and the human soldiers are cut down as they flee.

Result: Total Tyranid victory.

Well, that was a fun little battle. Even if all of my troops were sliced to ribbons and eaten and pooped out by horrible aliens. Let's break the match down and analyse my performance.

What I did wrong: I lost.

What I should have done differently: Won.

And that's that. I'm still only playing with a basic knowledge of the rules and these simple skirmishes are helping me develop my understanding of the game. I'll try and get some actual pictures up next time, when I've finished my Stormtrooper unit.
