Hey guys, just wanted to post my impressions of this tournament.

The format was 4x4 tables, 4 rounds @ 1000 points. sign in was 25 if pre registered 30 at walk in. There were 50 people at the tournament.

Cost included your lunch and drinks, they had tons of soda, iced tea, water etc... pretty much everything most of us gamers drink.

Prizes were given out for
1st 2nd 3rd Overall
1st 2nd 3rd Sportsman
1st 2nd 3rd Appearance
One more here i am forgetting,
Golden Grot competition 1st 2nd 3rd. This was any model form any range you wanted to have judged for a sidebar painting bracket.

Here's the site for reference:
http://berks-pa-gamingclub.blogspot.com/

Organization:
The Berks guys were VERY organized, everyone was given a welcome packet with the 40k cheat sheets, paper to track your scores. Record sheets were handed out way before people finished during the rounds. Pairings were clear, they used an easel to show everyone's pairings in case you didn't hear your name called during the start of the round. They are using Rankings HQ so full stats should be posted sometime next week.

Terrain:
Terrain was good, every table had at least 25%, some had more, i didn't hear anyone complain about too much or too little. We brought some terrain from club snake eyes and I know the Mechanicon guys helped bring some terrain as well.

Location:
They had it in a fire-hall this year, due to the weather out it was a little humid and warm but overall great location, the bar connected to it was a huge bonus for our Fenresian drinking Club members

Judging:
All the judges were knowledgeable. Everything went smooth that I'm aware of, no tables were flipped. There were a few minor things during my last game on table one but not worth explaining here.

Atmosphere:
Everyone i played with had a great time, there was a big feeling that this was more a hobby tournament with great prizes than a WAAC GT and i personally loved the format.

Extra Stuff:
Chinese auction, We were given tickets to throw in for a ton of stuff, baneblade, grey knights starter package (3 troop boxes, 1 terminator box, dreadknight, codex) some troop boxes, storm-raven, some nice terrain pieces from terrainscapes and lots more. You could buy more tickets 6 for 5$. Alot of people who didn't place still walked away with stuff from this.

They also had an army domination prize for the best player of your codex.

Top Prizes:
This was another great thing, they had a whole table with tons of boxes sets, a realm of battle board, Battlefoam Pack 720. all the first place winners got to go up and pick what they wanted, all the 1st's then 2nd's then 3rd's, weighted as Overall then Sportsmanship then Appearance.

Food:
Lunch was good, they had bread, meat and cheese trays. Also antipasta salad. nom nom nom. They also had table with candy people could buy during the day. One of the items was a Scatter Dice lollypop made out of brownie and vanilla frosting. i wish i had a picture but it was so good and i devoured it.

They also had http://www.noobhammer.com/ and another new pod-casting group on site taking pictures and videos of some of the games. There was one more podcast group there but for the life of me i cannot remember their name, i need to check my welcome packet; i know the name is in there.

Overall:
This was the best event I've ever been to, I'm looking forward to next year, though SteelThunder may have his hands full cause i know they will need space for 60+ people

I don't know if any other dakka-ites were there, a few of us from http://snakeyesgaming.blogspot.com/ were fortunate enough to place.
gkwh40k took 1st sportsman and walked away with a Battlefoam Pack 720
Dr Great Wolf took 3rd sportsman Another landraider for hit fleet of 7+
I was knocked out on table one in my last round but still got 3rd for appearance. Battlewagon "WEEZ KRUMPIN STUFF!!! "

A special thank you to Mike(Mikhalia) from showcase cause i know he provided the Battlefoam case as one of the prizes.

Gubbinz covered it all pretty well.

Brought my IG up from Maryland for this tournament and had an awesome time. One thing I really liked was that they had name tags for everyone, for those of us with crappy memory for names it was great.

Tournament was very well run and was a great time. I'll be back next year and hopefully place beyond best of IG, a tie in the 3rd round knocked me out of placing.

Extremely honored and thankful for the comments and praises from our friends. We put a lot of work into this event and we are very happy to hear that everyone enjoyed themselves. Our main goal was to throw the BEST event we could as a club. So far, this has been our best for Berks-PA Gaming Club.http://berks-pa-gamingclub.blogspot.com/ We owe all of our thanks to our wonderful staff, all of our terrific sponsors, our club members and our affiliated friends and clubs that came to join us. Everyone did their part and as a result, we held a 4-game tournament in one day with 50 players. 100 games of Warhammer 40K were played in 1 day, in a cramped old fire station and everyone had a great time. For that I thank everyone.

More impressively was the quality of the players and the turnout. This was a “Hobby” style tournament, more so for fun and sportsmanship than for hard core win-loss and cutthroat style of play. As a result of that our event ran extremely smoothly. We filled the venue to capacity and next year we will have to go to a much larger facility.

As our club is growing, we are learning. Last year we held Berks Spring Assault 1 and had 38 total players. This year, we had 38 players pre-registered, with 50 total coming to play. This means that next year we need to plan bigger, simply because everyone had a great time. We had a very capable staff and everyone pitched in to make this a terrific event.
Our sponsors were a big part of that as well. With 19 sponsors assisting our event with prize support, terrain, gifts for our raffle prize drawings, as well as photography and internet web and pod-casting (Noobhammer.com, Turn-8 Podcast, and RAR Studios), we were able to provide over $2000 in prizes. Our thought process here at Berks-PA Gaming Club is that while some of us do enjoy playing in larger GT-style events, many newer or less competitive players tend to shy away from the larger events due to costs, skill, time (most are 2 day events), or in the case of those players with families, sometimes a 2-day event just isn’t possible for them.

Our success this weekend only served to enforce our thinking and we will continue to provide this part of our “tournament circuit”, keeping Berks Spring Assault to a 1-day, smaller point style tournament. We wanted to thank you for your support and hope that you will continue to support us as we will run Berks Spring Assault 3! Next year in 2012. We will be going to a larger venue and hosting even more players. The other PA tournaments our members support that are part of our "tournament circuit" are: Cabin Fever in Harrisburg PA (last weekend of January), St. Valentines Day Massacre (Showcase Games & Hobbies, 3rd weekend in February), and The Mechanicon GT in West Chester PA (Nov 4, 5, 6, this year, 2011). Sounds like we'll be adding Snake Eyes Gaming event as well, at Legions in Pittsburgh the week after Mechanicon.

It was a great event. As Warboss stated, it was a more relaxed event not for the WAAC Gamer, but for people that enjoy ALL aspects of the game. It is good to see a different style tournament instead of the everyone shows up and by the end of the 1st round you have a good idea who is going to place or be out of contention based on their 1st round score. Obtaining a Sportsmanship award like I did this year is always a good honor and it is something that our club strives to establish with our own tournaments and within our club itself. We did learn a lot from Berks and will be taking some things away from their event that will be put to good use in our own events - thanks for that Mike. Our next "Big" event is tentatively scheduled for November 12th at Legions Games in Pittsburgh. We will post more details soon as everything is hammered out with the details. Anyway, thanks again for a great tournament and I am sure you will see us next year at the event as well.

Had a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very well run event considering the last minute influx of gamers-myself included. 1000pt format was a nice change of pace from the regular 1850 to 2000pt events.
Great hobbiests, gamers and sports!
I know every one from my club Phila Area Gaming Enthusiasts-"PAGE" had a good time. Looking forward to next year's tourney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a very enjoyable event. I'm very glad that I attended. There is currently a video of the event on the front page at the War Store:

Thanks to Berks for a wonderful day of gaming. I got to play four games against people that I have never played against before and managed to win Army Domination: Space Wolves.
Great Event!
