Mission: Seize Ground Deployment: Dawn Of War 4X4 Tabletop. Tank trap in the middle. Wrecked Leman Russ tanks litter the battlefield. Jungle terrain opposite of tank traps.

(Night Fighting in effect on Turn 1, Orks win first move)

Turn 1:
Tau FW's set up near their corner table edge deployed in terrain with good firing points. Opposite table corner holds Tau HQ and 1 Devilfish. Kroot infiltrate into jungle terrain near their home objective.

Orks deploy 2 Trukks on both flanks hiding behind Leman Russ tank wrecks. One trukk holds 12 boyz, the other holds 11 with Big Mek and KFF.
Trukks move 18" towards the FW's. 3rd Trukk moves up from 1st turn reserves onto the table edge towards the left flank, moving near the KFF.

Tau turn one ends up with another Devilfish and 6 pathfinders moving onto the board from their 1st turn reserves due to DoW. Tau shooting leaves one Trukk destroyed (explosion result) and takes out 6 Orks. They are then wittled down to 3 boyz (Nob included) and when the dust settles the 3 remaining Orks charge at the Firewarriors hiding in terrain, though the FW's kill the rest of the orks since they struck last at I1 due to assaulting into cover.

Orks answer back by assaulting the 6 FW's with 12 Trukk boyz and wipe them out. 2nd remaining Trukk moves into assault range of a Devilfish. One trukk has a weapon destroyed and gets shaken. Tau player shoots at the Orks with HQ, 2 Devilfish, and 6 pathfinders and manage to pin a unit of boyz down. Grots come in from reserve and move towards the Ork home objective. Whittled down Ork units (8 and 9 strong respectively) get back in their rides and on the next turn 1 unit wipes out 6 pathfinders and later destroys the 2nd devilfish. The Tau HQ has horrible luck with his Ion Blaster but manages to flame template 5 Orks, killing 3. Orks have so far had excellent leadership rolls besides one unit getting pinned down. Towards the end all that remain are 11 Kroot in jungle terrain and 2 Trukks with whittled down Ork mobs and 10 grots sitting on an objective. One unit of Orks charge the Kroot and get wiped out besides one lone Nob because they assaulted into cover. The 2nd mob finished off the Kroot whom strike at regular initiative. Turn 5 ends with 1 Nob remaining from one unit and the other down to 6 boyz. Orks win due to the grots camped on Ork's home base objective.

Summary: The lists may not be the most competitive as this was more of a friendly match and we had to due with what models we had. Unfinished Ork models were substituted with IG Vostroyan models. Anywho, the game was real close and if the Kroot had been further in terrain then my last assault with the Orks would have been futile, yet the Kroot were daring enough to try to get pot shots at the Orks which was their downfall. I rolled horribly this game with the Kustom Force Field (AGAIN) which I now deem worthless based on my luck/experience. A Warboss would have suited me MUCH better. The boyz mobs were very lucky with passing all their leadership tests, otherwise they would have started to flee and then have gotten mowed down by Tau shooting VERY easily. The grots were worth their weight in gold because the Tau concentrated all their fire on the boyz/Trukks and completely ignored the grots for the entire game, and I didn't even make them go to ground! It all came down to the last assault and I won because of One sneaky Nob. I had one unit of boyz all but wiped out by 11 Kroot and because the lone Nob left was tying them up, my other unit of boyz got to charge with their regular initiative (plus Furious Charge of course) and when all was said and done the little green grots saved the day. The Kroot have a lot more respect from me. I thought without my powerklaws I would have been toast, but even without them (or even a Big Choppa for that matter) I was able to blow up transports and kill infantry effectively. (And yes if I was facing a MEQ army I would have been tabled without my Klaws)

Did you forget to use the ramshackle chart for the trukk? No matter what happens usually, it is better than the basic rolls.

Good BR though, could use some picture to spruce it up
