Hey Peoples,
Well I was planning to start a blog of my new Ork project, however I don’t think I’ve had the momentum or time to keep it fully running, (I hate blogs to go stale and disappear

). But my colleagues, here and there and I’ve painted about 20 or so models just to keep things going (think I’ll keep images of these as back-up momentum for when I do start a blog haha), this week I really treated myself and decided to paint a model I’ve always loved but never had the honour – The reluctant Weird Boy with Minders. When I was younger I thought this was a fantastic model, full of character…. And now available on eBay for pennies!
However, this model should come with a warning! Just to deter anyone from following suit, this was the hardest, most annoying model I’ve ever had to paint, so much so I think I’ve painted and repainted it 3 times in a week!! For the life of me I just couldn’t get it to look anything other than a massive lifeless blob of green and brown.
Anyway, picture and some explanation! - sorry about the pic, not from my main camera.
I didn’t take any pictures of my first attempts, they frazzled my brain, the only way in my eyes I could get it to work was contrasting skin colours. That’s where I came up with the idea of an Albino Weird Boy, I think it works okay.
Then I move on to my stupid mistake…. I should have been happy, the model was done, and just about passed my finicky eye when I tried something totally daft…. My first attempt at source lighting….
I now have massive respect for guys who pulled this off, all I had to show for about 90 minutes of fannying on was slightly bluey white Weird Boy eye and an Ork with a blue face. I know there should be more light on things like the mace and clothes but I gave up and called this one done

.
I still love the model, but I’m glad I never have to paint it again haha….. say hello to varnish!
Thanks for reading my pain…..
