I have just gotten into 40k and I really want to play a game. If there is somebody nearby who I could play with and teach me the basic rules (because I am not willing to dish out $57 on a rule book when I could get a trygon for that). If anybody could do this I would be eternally grateful!

First post since they shut down Portent... I live in Silver Spring too—just inside the Beltway off Seminary road. I play Iron Warriors and would play more, but have a hard time getting out to the Olney GW on a regular basis. My roommate Nick plays Tyranids. We would love to get a regular painting/modeling/project night going in Silver Spring and get together for casual games or a campaign. If we can find a few people in the area who are interested—I'd be happy to invest in a fullsize table or two from Maryland-based stompagames. Hit me up.

Hey, new to the forum but long-time lurker. I live in Silver Spring too, and I'm looking for some new people to play with. I've managed to amass just about every army over the years, at least 2000 pts each of Ultramarines, Night Lords, Imperial Guard, Orks, Eldar, Necrons (although a lot of those are friends' armies I've been "taking care of" ever since my old gaming group split up and we all went off to college). Now I've been working very slowly on Sisters of Battle and The Lost and the Damned, I'm updating all my terrain, and I'm getting into Battlefleet Gothic. I spend way too much time and money on this to not be playing, so let's get a game together!

Cool—that's three. I just ordered the table to be built.

If we were looking at this week to meet up for the 1st time, I'm available Wednesday night, Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, or anytime on Sunday the 26th.

I'm a no-go the whole following week, but I'm available on July 8th , 9th or 10th. If we pick a date, we could get some pizzas and try to get a few more people out so we can all meet each other, get a couple of games going, exchange info, etc. Happy to host the 1st time.

What do you guys think?

Awesome! Anytime Sunday is good for me. Just PM me with details. By the way, what's this stompagames table? I'm re-doing all my terrain and commissioning a new one sounds a lot easier than doing it myself.

If you can get the the Battle Bunker in Bowie, they have a ton of tables with room to get around them. Great gaming space.

Yeah—I've been to the new Bunker, but it's 30 miles from my home which is tough, especially with traffic. It's hard enough to make it out to Olney, you know? The drive almost always precludes a game after work or during a busy weekend too.

Have you tried Dream Wizards in Rockville? It might be closer to you than the Battle Bunker...

Miniature gaming is on Wednesdays and Thursdays, although Wed seems to be warhammer / 40k night for the most part, while Thurs is more warmahordes.

Hello fellow gamers I don't live in silver spring but I do live in Maryland (poolesville) and would love to pick up a game with you guys. I run an Eldar force rather small at the moment but still would like to play and learn at the same time so pm me if you need more players or a different army to fight against lol

They also do Sundays. It's a good crowd. I know the Dream Wizard's group has a club with a message board but I can't find the link.

Hey,

Calgar'sPimpHand and I played a game last weekend. It was Iron Warriors v. Imperial Guard and we tied 1 objective to 1 objective with a squad of IG troops finishing the bottom of the 7th just 2 inches from a third objective.
