I've not played the second game yet but the first game wasn't that scary or challenging tbh... the only reason I haven't completed the game on hardest difficulty is the bloody asteroid minigame.

1) Dead Space 1 was scarier.
2) Dead Space 2 had more challenges.
3) Dead Space 2 was more fun.
To be honest, I was afraid to play Dead Space 1. I finish it in 6 days ( getting courage after each mission ). I finished Dead Space 2 in 6 hours, notice the difference?
But Dead Space 2 was more fun ( like taking those metal things and sending it right trough the Necromorph, or who didn't like the scene where that baby explode in the teacher's arms? ). Adn I like Isak's personality in 2'nd part.

I like them both for different reasons. I found the regenerator necromorph in DS1 far scarier than anything in DS2. I am not too sure about the weapons. I have played DS2 twice, but I keep using the assault rifle and plasma cutter. I might like the guns in Dead Space 2 better if I switched around some.
