As the subject title says, this is a re-introduction as thelast time I entered one my marines flew the Winged badge of Sanguinius's son's, namely The Blood Angels. Then Games Workshop released the MkV Space Marine Codex and I just couldn't resist utilizing at least some of those new tactics and rules, which by fielding a non codex chapter I was unable to do. Damn those G.W boffins for making this hobby so bloody appealinng and in-depth. Anyhoo, decision made, rubber stamped, and set in concrete I set about the not so small task of repainting my Blood Angel task force, of which the core units came from The Assault on Black Reach boxset. I'd also added to this another dreadnought,a five man squad of scouts (sniper), and a command squad with a final addition of a Space Marine Commander as my Chapter Master.
And that's where the problems began......
......what colours to paint them, but more importantly what were they to be named?
DECISIONS DECISIONS!!!

After numerous attempts I finally settled on the name,'The Red Raptors'. A chapter created in the 26th Founding from Gene seed stock of The White Scars Legion. Their colours are predominantly scab red armour with the Imperial Eagle in shades of purple, highlighted with magenta, and sporting codex grey shoulder guards. The Chapter's insignia is a winged scythe in white on the grey background.
Since that monumental decision on my part to change my chapters colour scheme and name, those lovely, lovely peeps from G.W have released a smorgasboard of new Blood Angel gizzits, which hit the shelves just as i'd finished repainting my original boxset models!!! Don't ya just love em?!!! How cool is that StormRaven though? So cool infact there's one earmarked for my chapter refit.
Actually, inventing your own DIY Chapter, right down to it's history, battle honours and even concocting plausible material for individual members, such as Chapter Master, 1st Chaplain, e.t.c. is a lot of fun, and I would definetely recommend it.

So if, from the plethora of Astartes Chapters on offer, you can't quite whittle their number down and select one for your fledgling army. Think about the DIY option. It's a lot more enjoyable than putting new shelves up!!!!!

For background info and fluff on The Red Raptors, go to DIY CHAPTERS, or The 26th Founding Chapters, and I hope you enjoy reading their biography. P.M's are welcome with any opinions or tips appreciated.
Thanx.
HUFFSTAR.

My DIY Chapter's ace in the hole are an Elite Scout Company, whose active units have aquired the tag of,'Belt Notchers'.
Comprising of newly promoted neophytes, sergeants, and vets from the Chapter's inception. Exploiting all of the advantages which arrise out of stealth-work, the'Belt Notchers' are,in their own right a terror weapon and the mere hint, whisper or rumour of their deployment has been enough to quell many an uprising.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...
