I apologize for the mega big pics...will fix soon (just zoom out)

My first batrep (and one of my first full-length games). As such, please understand any errors, lack of creative scenery, bad lists, etc., though I welcome any advice/pointing out such errors if they are constructive and not simple trolling.

Without further ado...

Baal: 995.200 M41

Necron hordes are rapidly awaking. Among these silent horrors come the Immortals, formerly proud Necrontyr elites now rendered into automatons of the most viscious variety. A scouting operation by the Blood Angels chapter on the tombworld of Dryan VI has revealed a new line of upgraded Immortal warriors, bearing formidable weaponry previously unknown to the Imperium. The scouts, who barely escaped their encounter, reported that these weapons, dubbed "Gauss reapers," were most likely capable of challenging even the hulls of the mighty Land Raiders. They urgently advised the Chapter's council to act on these reports, yet the expected re-emergence of the Chapter's great nemesis, Ka'bandha, had left Dante reserving his best forces and unable to spare any large host for battle with the Necrons. Yet Mephiston sent one of his finest Librarians, Brother Calidon, to lead a more surgical operation onto Dryan VI to recover the corpses of several slain Immortals and whatever weapons they possessed. After being briefed by Brother Scipio of the scout squad that had landed on the planet previously, Calidon put together a small yet capable band that he deemed would be able to secure potentially 4 such Immortals before he would be detected...

The landing on Dryan was uneventful, and the assault force soon located their quarry. Brother Mordecai, the dreadnaught who had joined the company, urged them to caution however. Soon enough, a dreadful roaring noise sounded, and a massive hole in the earth gaped open before their eyes. Reforming into battle positions, the Blood Angels looked on in disbelief as a massive pillar of cold, glowing stone arose from the depths. Sounds of grating metal and rock accompanied the following entrance of what appeared to be the Necrons' initial response-what sorcery brought them from nowhere Calidon could only guess. Igniting his force axe and urging his men on in the name of the great Emperor and Sanguinius, Calidon and his men opened fire and the battle began...

Mission: Sieze Ground

Deployment: Table Quarters (might look a bit funky, stupid me thought the center circle was only 6" but it was a small table so whatever)

We deploy 4 objectives (4 of my Immortals on their sides, dont confuse for actual models)

I decide to make the fight a straightforward one as condensed as possible and take a risk, ensuring that 3 objectives are on one side of the map...

And I win deployment! Due to circle in the center, Mono ends up kind of funny. There is an objective buried behind my grey set of necrons you can see (it's blue) though I plan on using the monos position to teleport this squad up if need be. My heavy destroyer is positioned right behind and to the right (you can barely see it) to get a good shot at his dread early if I get a chance. Destroyers in position to maximize range and catch him if he takes the short path I think he will. Blue squad in the center, holding two objectives.

In retrospect, I don't think I hid my grey squad as well as possible but oh well.

Space Marines deploy in an odd way, and he'll decide to sit on that objective all game long. Termies in reserve.

The whole board:

He rolls to Seize...nothing.

Necrons Turn One

Destroyers get into position down the "firing lane." Mono moves up and my crons spread out a bit more as they follow.

Heavy destroyer sneaks out of cover...not sure about my chances with the LOS to dread he blows a condensed round of gauss cannon into some artificier armor (a Sanguinary guard goes down). Destroyers smatter the tac marines and take out two.

Here they come...

BA Turn One

Everyone advances right down the line as I though they would. The sarge in rear squad decides to start a campfire going in the forest and is too busy pitching his tent around an Immortal to do anything (for most of the game.)

Brother Mordecai (the dread) didn't get all the dust out of his sprockets and sends a multi melta into the dust in front of the destroyers while they taunt him. His sanguinary brothers, on the other hand, make on such beast "eat plasma fire" (cue fire warrior Dawn of war sound).

The board after turn one:

Necron Turn Two:

Non-tau plasma fire was two much for the poor destroyers, so not only does their buddy not get up from the dust but they decide to withdraw to plague the enemy a little later. Mono moves up (and just into firing range!)

Grinning evilly the Necron Lord orders the monolith's power matrix to discharge its mighty particle whip into the cluster of approaching blood angels. lucky me rolls only a 4 on the scatter and so the large blast is right where I want it.

Even if my blast wasn't AP 1 (which it is under the template hole), the dread would still be a pile of scrap as my penetrating hit is followed by a 6! As fiery remnants of poor old Mordecai (and the distraught groans of my opponent) slam into the space marines, the one who forgot his helmet decides to get whalloped in the face by a flaming oil can and dies. AP 3 is not sufficient for the sanguinary guard, who remain standing until one of them fudges the much weaker S5 AP 4 (the flux arcs) and dies (did he take his helmet off too?!?).

Good progress so far...here's the table now:

BA Turn Two

Not to mess up a reserve roll in a 1K point game, my lil bro' calls forth the terminators which decide not to scatter at all from their destination, a short distance from my front lines and in position to potentially contest an objective (or two?). Everything else moves up as expected with Sanguinary Guard now in assault range.

Terminators open up on blue squad but whiff. Sanguinary guard try the same but the blue squad's cover save stops the one wound possible.

Sanguinary Guard attacks! Defenders react means I'm forced off my objective (now I'm somewhat nervous)

Three fall to the might of the master crafted blades while my poor crons only must 1s and 2s to wound -___-. on the brighter side all 3 are in range of the rez orb so they aren't auto removed.

Sadly no pic taken at end of 2

Necrons Turn 3

One of my boys gets back, slightly dissapointing but not too bad.

Now you see them...

...now you don't!

Out of CC, my warriors also get their lovely re-roll to WBB and another guy comes back!

Everyone else gets in position to blow the Sanguinary Guard back to the 4th millenium (with necron lord detaching as to get into CC by himself and mop up anything left)

Blue squad (the teleported one) facepalms as marines make 4 or 5 saves against their volley of fire (including those made by the flux arcs...)

Grey Warriors have more luck, knocking off one sanguinary guard. Destroyers are the MVP tho, blowing down the final two sanguinary guards in an unprecented success that left my poor necron lord swiveling his metal head around for another target. Heavy destroyer whiffs against the terminators.

Here we are...

BA Turn 3

Continuing to move up (and not put termies in assault range, something I informed my bro afterwards would have been a better idea), librarian uses his blood lance to fell two necron warriors from blue squad. marines whiff but the terminators backing them up take down a solid 3 (for only ten bolter shots? cmon man) I pass Ld test. not much else i remember

I forgot to take full board pics for a while after this

Necron Turn 4

4 out of 5 of my boyz don't think a grave is ready for them yet the happy lord decides to celebrate by rejoining grey squad as they move up. monolith decides to take a risk and fires into the terminators with its particle whip (i wasn;t sure about it flying back into my warriors or the mono itself)...disaster!

Well scattering 7" (11 initially) kinda sucks...in the aftermath...

Fortunately the 10 Ld of my destroyer holds.

Blue squad opens up on the marines...they decide to make all 4 saves...I laugh as the only wound goes to the 2+ librarian. Grey squad follows suit and the pesky spawn of Mat Ward decide to ignore guass weaponry all together and make another 5 saves...

BA Turn 4

The line holds and everyone opens up again. Libby's lance kills another two but fails to put a chink in the monolith. The tac marines kill another warrior. In the meantime, the terminators change direction and unload their lucky shooting on the now solo destroyer...who makes several saves!

Stay tuned for tomorrow for the exciting conclusion to our tale! (and more fluff if you all like it). Time to watch the new X-Men!

Why doesn't the BA player even try to get into close combat? Sanguinary guard don't count because they are the only dedicated assault squad but everyone knows that against necrons almost everything rocks in combat. I'm quite sure that the necrons could have been phased out by turn 4. Good stuff nonetheless, keep it up.

I was the BA player in this scenario. Yeah i know i should've assaulted with Termies. I think it was a well-balanced battle overall and I enjoyed playing with Alphaomega4ever.

Enemies! We need enemies!!!

Sorry for the long delay in completing this batrep

Necrons Turn 5

Brother Calidon looks on in horror as all three Necron warriors (and the destroyer) rise up from the ground ready to kill again. Sensing the potential end of the game wishing my warriors to remain intact at least through the next round of Blood Angels fury, I split off the Lord once more, putting him in assault range of the libby and his tac marines. The destroyers/heavy destroyer ready themselves for what I figured would be the end of there existence yet they would go down in full glory. Monolith turns and moves blue squad back in safety behind it (and now clutching another objective). Grey squad spreads out to take the objective on the ramp while getting in position to fire.

Everyone opens up. Destroyers don't manage to chink the terminator's armor but their heavier counterpart's heavy guass cannon does take one down, and the warrior squad also does ok as they open up on the tac marines (2 fall under the hail of gauss bolts). My biggest mistake here was forgetting about the monos flux arcs when it came to shooting...oh well.

The moment I was waiting for. Lord crashes into the tactical marines, eager for a kill. On the other side, my 2 destroyers and lone heavy destroyer ram suicidally into the terminators, hoping to hold them off for another turn. As the battles resolve mixed results come out. My lord, warscythe and all, whiffs his 4 attacks directed at the librarian, while the librarian fails to wound me with his activated force sword and the tactical marines grunt as their bolters fail to do more than scratch the paint off the lord's armor.

On the other hand, the MVP of the turns ends of being one of my destroyers, who pounds the face in of the terminator seargeant (odd wound allocation, I know) before he and his brother get mulched by a mass of powerfists...with my Heavy Destroyer still miraculously standing! The fateful roll and...we're locked in combat!

Blood Angels Turn 5

Well, the one movable unit...continues to sit in the forest out of sight, but not entirely out of mind...at this point in the game I get a crafty idea...

Assault phase librarian fails to get off the force weapon but still wounds the lord once, whereas the Lord focuses on those annoying marines blasting off another one (two left not counting libby!) Terminators finish off the hated heavy destroyer and consolidate towards my warriors...not good.

The game now:

I have control over 3 objectives to his one...

We roll...and the game continues!

Necrons Turn 6

My mono moves (for the first time in a long time) up the corridor towards the gap (crafty plan in progress). Warriors get the best sights on the terminators.

After splendid hit rolls and even a dead on blast...

...wound rolls suck and termie armor mops up the rest (yes i rolled "magnus eyes" for the strength 9 ap 1 hit over the middle terminator... )

Librarian reginites his blade but still isn't having much luck as this time the Lord's invuln save wards off his blade. Conversely, yet another marine falls beneath the scythe...this is going to go on forever...

Blood Angels Turn 6

Space marines in their wood encampment briefly look up from their chow, wondering what the low rumbling sound is, before continuing to eat (aka do nothing)...

Termies open up on my crons but don't do anything.

Assault phase! Terminators finally smart up and ram into Grey squad. Now i get a bit nervous, as my reaction move forces me off the platform objective.

After resolution...one of my poor crons manages to drag his scary axe-thing into a weak spot in a terminator's neck guard...one down! They are eager to avenge their brethren, striking down 4 of my warriors (3 in range of the rez orb). somehow i manage to pass my morale test (good or bad?)

Sorry for the bad image:

The other fight resolves. I elect to finish off the last marine, which is easily done. The marine's return attack does zilch. The librarian reaches into the warp to power his sword...only to find a bunch of tentacles ready to give him pay back for wasting all that other warp energy for 3 turns now and steals his final wound! Suddenly the lord finds himself alone, and rushes over to the rear of the terminators now clashing with his men.

At this point it's a tie...yikes that shifted around pretty badly.

We roll again...and turn 7 begins!

Necrons Turn 7

Only one cron makes his WBB in a stark contrast to the rest of the game.

Sneaky plan meets fruition as the monolith barely moves around the corner of the wall...

Oh hello there:

Shooting phase! The camping marines drop their pots and pans in terror as a blast of guass lightning hurtles towards them!

Dead on! The panicked marines realize power armor isn't helping as a good 7 of them are utterly vaporised! They roll for morale...5 and a 6 stare back at my opponent as pale as he stares at them. They roll for fall back...8 inches!!! And, they're off the board ladies and gentlemen.

Assault phase lord charges in...and does nothing...Terminators kill one and warriors whiff...

Having lost his boy scout space marines, my opponent concedes, having no way to contest the one secure objective blue squad is holding even if they somehow killed both the lord and all my crons.

Dryan VI was lost. Brother Calidon's scorched body was barely recovered by his remaining Terminator guards as they hastily teleported out of the battlezone. The silent horde recovered the remains of their Guass Reapers, returning them deep below the surface of the planet to their tombs, ready to be multiplied and spread among Dryan's armies once more.

VICTORY FOR THE NECRONS! alas, not the cleanest fight (being the relative n00bs we are) but nonetheless a fun one. hope you liked it!

That was pretty terrible on the BA part, especially with the giant LoS blocking terrain dead center to hide behind.

Well, he said they are both new players.

The BA needs to learn that his shooting is just something that happens as he's running in for the assault. Sitting back like that, especially in rapid fire range for the warriors is bad lol
Spreading guys out would have been good too; never let that many get hit by a blast template. Didn't you guys play that tissue with trees on it as area terrain? Cover saves would have been great there. Going to ground for a 3+ save would have been killer. Even in open ground, a 6+ save would have been better than nothing

Necron tip, usually a good idea to keep the door of the Monolith faced away from the enemy, so take advantage of your free pivot after it moves. Teleporting warriors behind the monolith to safety is much better than out in front where they can get shot and charged. With that set up, both squads could have been charged on the same turn, forcing one of them to sit and fight while only 1 could have teleported away. You dodged a bullet there

Not to pile on, but the Blood Angels list is pretty bad. The only decent choice in the entire list is the Librarian. It's pretty obviously half of a AoBR set, and the problem is that the only stuff in the set that's useful for a BA army is the five Assault Marines.

I don't mean to be rude, but those models would be much better repurposed for any other MEQ army. Regular Terminators and Tactical Marines really have no place in a Blood Angels army. I would be happy to make improvement suggestions, but they would involve either completely replacing most of the army or running what's currently there as vanilla Marines.

Oh, and I believe the BA list is 1010 points.

Do sanguinary guard have a 2+ save?

Also, your downed necrons don't have to be in range of the res orb, only one model from the unit needs to be in range for the whole unit to benefit.
