Hello! I've been lurking on this site for months now, so I decided to create an account. As a kid I used to like Heroquest (I wish that'd get a Space Hulk-style remake), Space Crusade, and the many non-GW miniature-using board games that seemed to be floating around everywhere back then. I've still got the 40K second edition starter set somewhere, but I didn't start seriously playing 40K until this year. I'm currently in the process of putting together an Imperial Guard army. I've always liked the idea of ordinary humans going up against crazy odds, but I also like the amount of customisation possible with the Guard (it helps that they have some of my favourite units in the game as well). Eventually I'm aiming for an Apocalypse-sized force, but in the meantime I also play Space Wolves. I have a friend who's been playing 40K since the 1990s and I had a 1200-point trial game where he let me use his SW army. I found them pretty fun to play and when I found he hadn't used them himself for about 6 months I offered to buy them right there. He accepted and now I've built them up to 1500 points, though with an IG army under construction I have no idea when I'll get them painted.

So, that's me...hello everyone.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

Hi,
