Hi all,

My friends and I have been playing the Warhammer: Invasion LCG put out by Fantasy Flight Games for about a year now. Some of us were pretty hardcore Magic: TG players in the past, but many of us have up and left Magic in favor of this game for its stronger gameplay. I was wondering how popular/well received it is in other areas. We live in upstate NY. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, it has a lot of similarities to Magic, but there are a few BIG differences:

-everything has trample (gets rid of the stupidity of a 1/1 being able to block a 10/10 and all damage is put onto the 1/1 and nothing goes through. A Goblin Raider stops a Daemon. Right...)
-there are 3 zones to attack instead of 1. This makes the players form better and more careful tactics
-no 'banned' list of cards. Rather, there is a list of cards that cannot be combined together in decks-you may have one card off of the restricted list in your deck, up to 3 copies of it.
-each pack with the same name has an identical list of cards in it. You know what you are getting when you buy a pack, without having to guess
-quite a bit cheaper to play than Magic is. I have dropped about $300 or so and own every card and pack in the game. I did get a bunch at discount price, so figure $400 to own everything. 'Everything' includes: the main starter set, 2 expansion sets, and 15 booster boxes (each booster box contains 40-60 cards, usually in triplicate).

There are other differences, but at this point I'm hungry and need to grab lunch. We'd love to meet new players, even online and discuss deck ideas and see how this game is growing in other areas. It is well loved by us, and I've been working at stealing some other friends away from Magic with this game. So far, results are positive

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I don't know anyone in my area who plays it, but I would suspect the closure of the local indy store is a factor here perhaps. Although they weren't all that positive about any GW related games... so..

FFG, in my experience, produce god products, and I think the fact that people can own every card makes for a fairer game.

Good luck with it all, hope you get some useful replies, I will also point out the board here :

which also be of help.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

The game is really popular at my FLGS. We've gotten a few constructed games together and have slowly begun to work in drafting the game. Once a hardcore MTG player myself, I can say that I thoroughly enjoy Invasion and its mechanics a lot more than MTG.

I don't own most of the cards, nor do I want to buy multiple packs so I get the 3 card limit possible. I own the Starter, Assualt, and about one of the booster packs, enough to let all 6 races have their starting deck, plus a little bit extra for drafting.

Been slowly working on how to expand the game to multiple players to either play together or draft, but everything is purely fan made and needs tweaking.

The sink.

At my LGS a few copies have sold, but I never see anyone play it. Everyone would rather play Magic it seems.
