Hey all, this was my first tourny in a while, so going in I was a little rusty, and had already been going into the game after having been debating between my two lists for a good week. Finally decided to go with my blood angels counts as (instead of vanilla) 20 minutes before the games started.
Also, these are my first games since joining dakka, so the ones that are more proud of this board may claim that dakka's influence did all the work.

Here's my list:
Captain, Lightning Claws, Jump Pack
Librarian, Jump Pack, Shield and Unleash Rage
Honor Guard, Jump Packs, 1 Set of Lightning Claws, 3 Power Weapons, Chapter Banner
2 Sanguinary Priests, Jump Packs, Power Weapons
10 Assault Marines, 2 Meltaguns, Fist (x2)
10 Assault Marines, Set of Lightning Claws (x2)
5 Devastators, 3 Lascannons, 1 Missile Launcher
Predator, All Lascannons

First game was against Space Wolves, here's what we have.
Wolf Lord, Wolf Claws, Wolftooth Necklace, Wolftail Talisman, Belt of Russ, Saga of the Warrior Born Phew!
Rune Priest, Runic Armor, Wolftooth Necklace, Saga of the Warrior Born, Living Lightning, Jaws of the World Wolf Again, Phew!
5 Wolf Guard, Thunder Hammer / Storm Shields
10 Grey Hunters, 2 Meltaguns, Mark of the Wulfen, Power Weapon (x2)
10 Grey Hunters, Plasmagun, Flamer, Mark of the Wulfen, Power Weapon (x2)
Predator, Lascannon Turret, Heavy Bolter Sponsons
Land Raider
3 Rhinos / 1 Drop Pod (1 Rhino on the WG, Drop Pod for a Meltagun GreyHunters squad)

This is a guy I play fairly often, fun to compete against! Anyway, here's our first mission. (I did not make these names myself or anything, all the tourny manager's stuff )
Mission 1: Kill Them All
Pitched Battle
-Players who destroy the most enemy units during the game wins. Each unit choice is worth different amounts when figuring up who won.
HQ are worth 3 points
Troops are worth 2 points
Elites, Fast Attack, Heavy Support, and Dedicated Transports are worth 1 point
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Win: 10 points, Draw: 5 points, Loss: 2 points
Bonus Points:
+1 Point for each Heavy choice still alive at end of game.
+2 Points for first enemy HQ choice destroyed.
+1 Point for every enemy elite choice destroyed.
So he wins the rolloff and opts to go first. that's fine with me, I have quite a few models to unpack here...
He puts one squad of greyhunters off to the far left in a rhino(behind the piece of terrain), the LR in the center with another GH squad (both the flamer/plasma squads), next comes the WolfG rhino, with both HQ, and then the last rhino with Melta GH. The predator is up on the hill to the right.
I apologize for the poor quality.
I deploy fairly evenly, knowing he has almost no long range stuff, and trusting my Priests / Librarian to keep the army safe.
Wow, these really are awful quality, I hope they get better...
On both flanks the Fist / Melta squads are in front, with the LC squads behind them. Priests are with the Fists. Honorguard and Independent characters in the middle, with the pred on the right and devastators on the left in the building.
I try to steal but roll a 5, drat.
Also, the Lightning Claw squad on the left gets the Red Thirst, as do the Honor Guard (not that they need it)
Space Wolves Turn 1
He drops his pod directly on the Pred, risking an off the board scatter, but touching down where he wanted it. Everyone moves up, and the Rhino on the right (wolfguard) pops smoke.
His predator shoots my Missile Launcher Dev in the face, his LandRaider pops another Assault marine from the Left Fist squad, and his Meltaguns line up my Predator
Ready...
Aim...
Whiff! He shakes it!
How could you miss that?
My Move.
Night Lords Turn 1
So I obviously have to take out those meltagunners in my backyard. I don't want them getting a second chance at The Tumult back there. Everyone moves forward, with the rightmost Lightning Claw squad moving for the grey hunters, and the priest splits from the fist squad to join them.
My Devastators, a little annoyed that a single las-shot knocked out the dedicated missile launcher, turn and return fire at the predator, knocking the turret off of it. Las me now. Unfortunately neither of my meltaguns are as lucky. I whiff the Landraider AND the rhino. Quaint.
The Assault marines charge the Grey hunters, after shooting two in the face, and kill another 6, leaving just 2 left. They both miss their attacks, and flee with their tails between their legs. I consolidate a single very angry inch.
Space Wolves Turn 2
Lots of disembarkations. I eye those line ups that I had, and facepalm. Hes gonna get the assault off on both of my front squads. Ah well, this is still salvageable.
In front of the land raider, I just opt to go to ground (out of range of shield). He opens up with everything, ending up with a lascannon kill, a plasma kill, and one solitary pistol round to someones assault pack. there goes a nice fiery explosion.
He then decides to Living Lightning the other squad. Cool, I got a librarian. With a hood.
"so hows it work?"
'well, we roll off, so lets see ... ... ... you have to roll higher or equal to this 2 I just rolled.'
"...Right"
Regardless, I save all the wounds. Woo for FNP!
He then assaults everyone. The newly rallied 2 wolves remaining from the pod, the landraider wolves, and the HQ deathstar.
The 2 wolves die pretty fast. No problem.
The Grey Hunters kill 2 marines, I knock back for one, and then roll snakeeyes for my Fist. and then for my morale.
Let's let the pictures explain the deathstar unit. It's pretty obvious.
There they are...
There they aren't. Woah, that picture has some decent quality! too bad its focused on the ONLY unpainted models in BOTH armies. Oh world, you so crazy.
Night Lords Turn 2
So now that my fist squads are reeling, it's time for my go round. The left LC squad decides to leave the already locked GH there, and go for the new fresh and shiny ones from the rhino. They have Red Thirst, so who needs to priest, right? The other squad and the honorguard/deathstar go for his own. Shooting from the pred shatters a storm shield and the wielder behind it, while some lucky bolt pistol shots from both squads combined knock out two more, as well as wounding the Wolf Lord.
Now the Talonmaster's chosen descend upon the foolish wolves, and feast on their fear. They kill everything, but not before the Wolf Lord (initiative 5, drat) guts two of them on his claws.
The squad that was already locked manage to kill one more wolf (ANOTHER snakeeyes on the fist...) and lose 3 for their trouble. They run away like the baby men they are.
The Claw squad that just assaulted kills 8 wolves, lose 1 marine, and then catch him when he tries to fall back. He falls to No Retreat! wounds.
(He is really cursing Furious Charge at this point)
There's some nice image quality!
Space Wolves Turn 3
His empty rhino tank shocks the deathstar / lightning claw squad. They both just shrug and move. Over to my left he moves his land raider towards the fleeing sergeant / priest, and kills the sarg with his heavy bolter. The now-unlocked grey hunters shoot the lightning claw squad that just annihilated their battle-brothers, killing one, and then assault to kill two and lose two in return.
Night Lords Turn 3
I move my HQ squad at the rhino that just had the audacity to tank shock me. How dare he? The lightning claw squad goes for the predator that has been plinging uselessly with it's sponsons every round and failing, while the lone Priest goes to join the progressing combat, going so far as to run to get into FNP range for the squad (he had regrouped that turn, so no jump move for him).
The devastators, lacking any real targets, shoot the land raider, shaking it and blowing one of the lascannons off. I wreck the predator, miss the rhino with everything (unleash rage doesnt work on vehicles )
I kill 2 from the squad in combat, losing none. They flee into the cover
Space Wolves Turn 4
So you remember that rhino I tried to assault last turn? Yea, apparently I pissed the drivers off. They about faced and shot their one storm bolter at the honor guard. Killing the Lightning Claws AND the banner bearer. Failed both armor and both FNP... Woo.
Varied shooting from the last GH squad (which disembarked) kills the lighitning claw squad on the left.
Dude, your storm bolters are terrifying
Night Lords Turn 4
So I might have forgotten to move my last lightning claw squad. Maybe. Don't even worry about it.
The honorguard move towards the LR, hoping to get to the new grey hunters and get another kill point. The priest, seeing his own 4 attacks on the charge, looks at those 4 grey hunters in terrain. He decides to jump in. He rolls a 2 for dangerous terrain, like a boss.
The predator, notified of the rhino's shenanigans, shoots him in rear armor. All he does is weapon destroy it though... but you know what, that's okay. it solves the problem.
The priest charges the 4 Grey hunters, gogo, 4 attacks! He kills 3 of them, and dodges the remaining Wulfen crazed marine! Ah well, maybe I can get him next turn.
Space Wolves Turn 5
So his Landraider, which failed to be shaken last turn by lazy devastators opens it's lascannon on them. Wonderful. I can either kill the libby (3 points), the last guard member (3 points) or hope that the Captain can make his bloody Iron Halo save or else get insta-gibbed (3 points). Well, i'm a practical man, I roll the Iron Halo. and fail it. Wonderfulx2. Heavy Bolter fire wounds the librarian.
The priest gets assaulted by the remaining grey hunters. It's cool, i hit at initiative, I can kill this last Grey hunter over here for 2 points, right?
Wrong.
He dies.
Brutally.
Worthlessly.
Pitifully.
Night Lords Turn 5
My remaining librarian and honorguard realize what exactly that hulking behemoth in front of them is, and turn tail to hide behind his own rhino. The lightning claw marines that i totally didnt forget to move last turn move towards the grey hunters.
So I look at my devastators, and then I look at his landraider. And then at the one lone grey hunter sitting in cover. And then his landraider. And then at the one lone grey hunter sitting in cover. And then at the three lascannons. And then at the one lone grey hunter sitting in cover. I declare fire on the one lone grey hunter sitting in cover. He immediately goes to ground before I even fire.
Too bad for him. I rolled 3 1's for my to hit. Good job, devs!
The predator, making himself more useful than the devs, immobilizes the land raider.
The libby / honorguard immobilize the rhino, insuring their wall from lascannon fire for as long as they like.
I roll the die for a turn 6, and get a 2. Good game!
Lets tally this up, shall we?
Night Lords kills / points
Wolf Lord3 points
Rune Priest3 points
Wolf Guard1 point
2 Grey Hunter squads4 points
Predator1 point
Total of 12 points for the mission!
Space Wolves kills / points
Captain3 points
3 Assault Squads6 points
1 Sanguinary Preist1 point
Total of 10 points!
That makes me the victor, 12 to 10!
I get an additional 5 points from Bonus points, for a total of 15.
(+1 point for every Heavy choice still alive, 2 for me)
(+2 points for first HQ kill)
(+1 point for each enemy elite choice slain, 1 for me)
I now find myself sitting pretty in the lead. A good first game score, for something that ended up being so close, although I'm pretty confident my assault squad / priest would have shredded the remaining grey hunters.
Rounds 2 and 3 to come!
Hey, nice batle report. I didn't get a chance to read through it all yet so I'll comment on it completely later on. Just wanted to say your opponent's list was illegal because he took saga of the warrior born twice and with the exception of special characters, each saga can only appear once in each army.
Looking forward to reading about how you did in the tourney
