Ok I was shocked to find my partner did not want to play this Planet Strike game at the last moment, he wanted to paint and watch. Ok here we go, I had thoughts of my Chaos and Genestealer buddy was going to partner up with me against this Imperial Guard army. I was in shock as my partner pulled out at last moment leaving me to write up another 2,000 pts Chaos list, in haste I made a mistake and choose the wrong army list my bad.

Mission Type: Planet Strike.

Point Cost: 4,000 pts.

Defender: Imperial Guard.

Attacker: Chaos.

Defender chooses "Castle" and places a huge trenched hill with razor wire in the center of the table and places water hazards and swamp all around the hill for defence. He has 3 quad auto gun emplacements set up to help against Deek Striking and Fliers, and has made 9 objectives that he controls on the hill A.K.A huge squad sized fox holes with 1 Supply dump, 1 Power Generator and Ammo Supply. He is well dug in and his entrenched hill in the middle of water and swampy area, making it hell for my poor vehicles and troops.

Attacker has his deployment zone at one edge of the long table (was expecting my allies on the other), facing large water and swampy areas slowing my forces to a crawl and made a huge traffic jam on my deployment zone.

Turn 1- Defender has deployed in his trenches and looks like he will not move, I am looking abit weary as I see 3 Valkeries with Storm Troopers on other table as Reinforcements, not good for me. I decide to use "Scorched Skies" to soften him up and give Col. Straken something to worry about, with his 9 objectives I roll a d6 and get 5 (Woooo) thats 14 strikes upon his force that kills off several members of Strakens HQ, and kills 70% of atleast 3 full squads of Vetran Squads on my side of the board(Well worth the 2 pts of Strategem). A rhino containing my Khorne Bezerkers arrive slowed in the swampy muck as well as a Defiler, Vindicator, a 5-man Havoc squad, Chaos Lord and my Champion Termies. All these troops are slowed down and manage to fire off several well placed rounds killing more defenders, but I am worried as non of my other units made it to the battle field yet all still in reserve I need to roll a +5 or better for each unit. Defender opens up with mortars and auto cannon fire to no evail as his orbital bombardment begins to blast away a my Defiler and Termies blowing up the Defiler upset me as I had never used it before (darn my luck). Well 3 big pie templetes latter I feel much releived.

Turn 2- Rolling for more units to arrive as my other units are bogged down in the swampy mess its getting tight as Plague Marines and Thousand Sons show up in rhinos, again a traffic jam but a Predator arrives with 3 Obiterators and 1 Dreadnought. firing on the enemy is fun killing abit more Guardsmen who return lasgun fire and do nothing, And yet again more Pie rains on me and ruins a rhino spilling Plague Marines into the mud. I am wondering if this battle was a good Idea as I feel its a duck shoot, my Vindicator opens up on troops killing some. I am awaiting more units that refuse to show up as I still need a +5 or better for more to show up.

Turn 3- Ok Typhus and my Hurus Clone arrive bringing another Predator, Dreadnought, Chaos Lord and Demon Prince and Chaos Sorceror, the Bezerkers have reached the trench line slaughtering guardsmen like wheat in the field (Yes capturing 2 objectives in the process). My luck turns worse as more pie lands my army destroying 2 rhino's, several Plague Marines, 6 out of 10 termies, 3 of 5 Havocs. Darn my luck as 3 Valkeries arrive with Storm Troopers, the Guard are killing my slowed down marines in a fast way.

Turn 4- Sgt Harker saves the day slaughtering the Bezerkers with a brave counter chage, but the Sorceror holds the second objective, more pie lands on me killing a predator. This game is turning agaist me faster and faster darn water hazards, the rest of my army arrives to see there brothers getting slaughtered and press the attack causing casuilties on the guardsmen, but the guardsmen hold their position.

Turn 5- More pie for my army a bad thing, my chaos sorceror dies vie Sgt. Harker and his boys, Marlbero ends my termies with a Sachel charge, my Noise Marines take the left flank killing as they go lead by Hurus Clone who dies from indirect fire. Plague Marines kill off 2 units of Storm Troopers and Typhus kills Marlbero making a bloody mess of him, 2nd predator dies from pie and the battle turns against Chaos and game is called.

Notes: This was a practice battle to test "Hill 223", it was fun watching the slaughter of both marines and guard, as last time I was defender but had a Bastion and won. This game was more of a surprise to me as my partner did not play and I was planning on using his genestealers as assault troops as my force gives fire support. Was a flop for my haste in making a 2,000 pts force with what figures I had with me so I was not preparred fully.

Chaos rules you all drool! Blood for the Blood God!
10,000 pts Black Legion
2,000 pts Traitor Catchian Guard (1067th).
8,000 point Sam Hain Eldar.
2,000 pts Squat Biker Force.
1,500 Orc Hoard (painting for a friend).
