So me and our FLGS bud have been looking and can't find anything in the rule book or 2010 FAQ's about this question so any clarification would be cool.

Can a ship disengage if on special orders? (Specifically all ahead full)

We can't find anything that says you cannot disengage on special orders but just wanting to know if there's anything anywhere that says otherwise?

Let me guess: Does the situation involves using AAF to get far enough away from your opponent to avoid negative modifiers on the Leadership test?

Nothing that I know of says you can't disengage while on a special order. In fact, I've specifically used AAF to charge off a table edge in the past, which is a perfectly legal way to disengage. So, I don't think it would be a problem here. I've also always played it that you could disengage braced ships as well.

Yeah we've been ruling it to be permitted but I just wanted to check the status quo (1 person right? )

And...it was more like my Repulsive was trying to make an epic get away. She would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for those pesky bombardment cannons! *shakes fist*

I think it's ann acceptable move to make, it's seems a very realistic thing to do, however some orders liek brace for impact would mean you shouldn't be allowed to dissengage.

Other than that go for it !

Officially (Rulebook!) a ship that wants to disengage may only move nothing else. If it fails disengage it may do nothing further.

However, doing a cool AAF, being in character I would allow it.

Depends.

if a ship goes off the table it disengages automatically, so an AAF could get you off without having to roll a command check to do so.

its a sneaky way to leave.

its more like the Ships crew is withdrawing in an organized fashion rather then turning tail and running.

its useful if you wish to disengage and still do some damage on the way out.
