Decided to keep a small log of my battles with my Nob army to view its progress over my use of it. These probably wont be too detailed as I don’t have that good a memory but will still have my thoughts on each one and be as detailed as possible.

Well I had my first three games yesterday at my local Games Workshop. By first I mean my first 40K game and first game with the army and these are the details that I remember.

My list:http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/375587.page

GAME 1

Opponent: Imperial Guard
Mission: Seize Ground (3 objectives spread out evenly 1 in each deployment zone and 1 in the centre)
Deployment: Spearhead.
First Turn: Imperial Guard
Opponents list: Company Command
2 Infantary Platoons
Yarrick in Chimera with Oqryns Bodygaurd
Lerman Russ Exterminator
Leman Russ Vanquisher
2 Sentinels
Mortar and Rocket launcher teams

Turn 1:

Was rather worried about the first turn of his shooting but thanks to cover and FNP I managed to survive guns from a Leman Russ Exterminator, a Vanquisher, a Chimera, mortars, and Sentinel with lascannon with a total of 2 wounds on my combi-rokkit troop choice holding my objective.

I advanced on mass and my rokkits did nothing to him.

Turn 2:

He repositioned some of his army and again his shooting killed a Nob from the combi unit and put wounds on several others.

My advance continued into the forest which contained the objective and shooting again didn’t do anything.

Turn 3:

He repositioned a bit more and his shooting again put more scattered wounds around and killed a Nob from one of the Cybork units.

My army commits to mass assault. My Waaagh is called and my Warboss and his guys charge a sentinel, the Exterminator and the Chimera thanks to how close they were. My Cybork unit on his right who had been advancing unnoticed also assaulted the Chimera and my one of the far left assaulted his Vanquisher. Shooting was again ineffective.
Assault however was another thing and the Chimera was quickly exploded followed by the Exterminator, the blat killing 5 guardsmen from the nearby squads and putting a wound on a Nob.
Whereas his Nob bodyguard had exploded a Exterminator my Warboss only managed to immobilise and knock the weapon off the Sentinel which was actually a good thing as it kept me locked in combat and meant I couldn’t be targeted in his next turn. The Vanquisher only had its weapon destroyed unluckily.

Turn 4:
He repositioned some more backing the Vanquisher up. His shooting wasn’t that effective again as both units of Cyborks survived a hail of fire and the other two squads either weren’t a threat or were in combat.
He then charged me with Yarrick and the Ogryns intot he Cyborks that had destroyed their Chimera and caused two wounds which I returned so we drew and I exploded the Sentinel again killing two more guardsmen.

This is where it ended as he had to leave but he agreed that as I hadn’t had my go I would have just moved my guys back onto the objective and therefore been holding two at the end of my turn so would have won.

RESULT: Win

AAR: Not a bad first game and I really like the army. The games are quick to play ( I managed to get 4 games in 8 hours yesterday including a fantasy one so not bad considering my fantasy games usually take ages) and the rules are easy to grasp (seriously I thought the wound allocation stuff was going to take ages but it doesn’t at all) . My main points from this battle:
*Painboys rock the FNP is awesome.
*My army is horrific in assault the Warboss’s unit has a total of 21 powerklaw attacks between them on the charge at str 9 and above.
*My army is small and objective based games are going to be hard as I only have two troops. I was lucky here that there was only three objectives.

Well that’s the first one and my first ever game so hope the Battle report wasn’t too bad and will have the rest up soon.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh
