Hello!
So I've been playing tabletop wargames for something like 12 years now, starting with Warhammer
40K 3rd edition. I had actually originally started with BattleTech, being an immense fan of the novels (even though I was only in 7th grade) and the MechWarrior 2
PC games, but it was rather complex and when I tried to figure it out with my friends, they suggested
40K. I was instantly hooked on miniature wargames and eventually started playing Fantasy. After a while I branched out into the Fanatic/Specialist games and various non-
GW games (eventually including BattleTech).
After being pretty-much a fanatic for
GW games, their recent moves have proven too much for me. A few months before they shot themselves in the foot I started playing Warmahordes (Cygnar!) and have recently picked up the Prussian starter fleet for Dystopian Wars. I also bought the rulebook for Wargods of Aegyptus, but no minis yet and the only place I know where people are playing is quite a distance from here, but perhaps I can convince others to play. It's a pretty obscure, niche game.
Anyway, I moved to LA about a week ago, so I'm not too sure where to go for games and what games are played (I know there are some Warmahordes players at Aero Hobbies and Games in Santa Monica, but that's about it), so I figured until I figure things out I'll join this forum so I can at least get some vicarious gaming in.
Incidentally, I'm an active member of another forum that used to be fairly large, but in recent years has shrunk to maybe a dozen active members. I still love it but I figure I can kill some time here, too.
I've been lurking here for several months, and decided I might as well try to be an active member, so.... here I am!
