My friend and I were arguing over which Fallout game was better, 3 or New Vegas. I said New Vegas, soley for the fact that I love the feell of Vegas over D.C. Fallout 3 was a great game, but New Vegas took the good qualities, reused them, and refined some of the bd qualities. Which do you perfer?

“Brothers, what we do on the battlefield is not just for our chapter but, for the entire Imperium. Every Xenos that falls by our hands will be a testament to our unwavering duty to the Emperor. Every heretic that is crushed under our feet will be a testament to our undying loyalty to the citizens of Imperial Space. We will baptize ourselves in fire and emerge as the most steadfast defenders of humanity.” - qoute from my own homegrown chapter

I want to play the original so badly, but it's my brother's game and he won't lend it to me

I prefer New Vegas. The DLC is better, I like the story better, and I feel that it does a much better job of conveying life in the Wasteland.

"Better" is subjective, and I've had a lot of fun in both of them, but I would have to give a slight edge to New Vegas.

I enjoyed both 3 and New Vegas but felt trouble in their connection forme fallout 3 caught the "treu postapocalyptic" better but New vegas had the edge in gameplay story and the feeling of desolation.
New vegas felt more refined and fresh.

I have never gotten myself to try out new vegas. Fallout 3 is awesome and just because of that I believe that new vegas is too. A friend of mine is trying to make me get the game but I don't have motivation for fallout right at the moment.

I prefer Fallout 3 solely because I love the dirty nuclear urban feel the city gives me. I got plenty of desert the first four times.

I like them both Fallout 3's Galaxy News is my favourite radio station, but I feel New Vegas did a lot of appropriate improvements to the game. Now I want to try Fallout 1 and 2.

Am I the only person who doesn't want to try Fallout 1 or 2?

Im going to have to agree. The original was friggin badass, even for being as old as it is, that is a fantastic game. I played the hell out of it

Fallout 2 was a lot more story driven then either vegas or 3. Gameplay on it is measured in weeks, not hours. Just so much to do, they've clocked it at over 3 or 4 days.

Tactics was fun, if just for the cheese factor.

I just didn't like the game-play in 1 or 2.

I liked the style, setting and especially music of 3 much better, but I like the gameplay of 4 the best.

On TV corrupting the minds of children.

I woould say Fallout 3 solely because of the desolate atmosphere, as well as the fact Fallout New Vegas didn't need to happen after a nuclear apocalypse it could happen in todays society and wouldn't look out of place storyline wise. I also prefer the colouring of Fallout 3 as it is well greener than New Vegas which is bright and colourful and I feel it lacks atmoshpere. For weapons Fallout New vegas has the edge, most weapons are customizable also there are iron sights and a greater choice of weaponry.

3 and vegas both lack Atmosphere when compared to 1 and 2, if you aks.

My main jibe for the new games is that they failed to capture the originals... spirit I guess.

Really? I thought 3 and New Vegas really captured the feel of how the 1950's envisioned the future. But I have yet to play 1 and 2, although I can't imagine the difference in atmosphere being too different (maybe

there's a stronger sense of survival in originals? ).

Fallout 1 and 2 really just captured the feeling of despair and general shittyness of the world I guess. It felt much more like a desolate and mostly dead place.

The 2 fallout games that strike me as the best were fallout 2 and brotherhood of steel. Personally between fallout 3 and fallout new Vegas I love fallout 3. The story is better in Vegas the graphics are far better the weapons are far better but once you have reached the level cap and get stuck in a door after uniting the enclave in the hardest difficulty setting apparently being in able to leave the secret bunker or pickpocket anyone for the key because you are too far from anyone gecks ass

Dislexic please be gentle. Space dwarves rock !!!!

As good as 3 and New Vegas were, Fallout 1 and 2 does a better job at capturing the look and feel of the Fallout universe although the newer games had a better cinematic feel to them due to being built around a newer platform.

I also think the quirky RPG game play of 1 and 2 kinda suit the Fallout universe a lot better than the stock standard FPS gameplay of the modern variants (although vats mitigates this somewhat). To put it frankly, I’ve played heaps of FPS titles with similar gameplay to 3 and New Vegas but I’ve never encountered another game with similar gameplay to 1 and 2.

I’d say Fallout 1 and 2 are the quintessential Fallout games than every fan should play. I’d recommend anyone willing to give the older games a crack to download a fan made bug fix first. My personal recommendation for Fallout 2 is the “Fallout 2 Restoration Project” mod (http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1097 ).

I think I was more invested in the story and world of fallout 3. New Vegas was good but I didn't care for the various characters as much, and the fact that it ended after the final battle was a bit of a disapointment.
