Hi everyone - I have to admit to being slightly long in the tooth and returning to painting mostly, but also a little gaming. 40k is my game, but any figures that look good I enjoy painting.

I got back into the hobby when my little boy was born - almost 6 years ago - my parents emptied their spare room and brought round a load of my old toys. In amongst some stuff were some of my old minis and GW (Citadel) Paints. One long, long night of my boy deciding that screaming was better than sleeping, I was on night duty, and in an exhausted haze looked in the paint/mini case and decided that painting up an army for when Ben was bigger might be cool - I found that some of the paints were still useable after 20 years in a cupboard! Since then I've been practicing and searching through forums looking for inspiration and advice and decided to take the plunge and start being active on Dakka as you guys seem to talk a lot of sense (mostly!)

I got into the hobby at the back end of Rouge trader and had a Squat - yes Squat - army along with some Imperial Guard and Adeptus Titanicus (Finger crossed for GW Mystery Box - please, please, please). I now have Orks and Smurfs and am planning a Tyraind force. Space Hulk has to be my favourite game.....anyone?.....just me?......ok then...(embarrassed cough).

I'm hoping to post pictures of some minis to get some feedback - not 10s, just advice on how to improve. I have no delusions of grandeur - I see myself as a good intermediate painter and would like to get better and teach Ben to paint as well. He's not doing badly - he is nearly six and came 4th out of 12 in the under 14 category at our local GW store.

Now the first challenge is to find a forum with advice on taking good pictures of minis.

Cheers.

The best thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's far too late to stop reading it.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
