Hey guys, while I was at Kingdom-Con 2011 I sat at a demo for Infinity and it's the tactical table-top game that I've been searching for all along. I really like Ariadna, especially the SAS highlander, Foxtrot Commandos, and the Paratroopers. I'm still learning the game, so I'm wondering what would be a good place to start making a list? I really like Special Forces and want to go for a theme in which I have around 5-6 highly trained units doing their thing, any ideas? Also, is it possible to mix subfaction units, like the Caledonians and Kazaks for example??
So you told the SD boy to stay classy. I'm sure he's NEVER heard that one....

Yes. You can choose to play with Ariadna the generic faction slecting the troops you want from all the Ariadna range and respecting their AVAilability.
Or you can choose to go sectorial army instead, choosing only miniatures from a themed armies (Caledonian or Merovingian).
I´ve found an old "starting Ariadna" that I wrote months ago. Maybe it could be useful for you.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Ariadna: They usually have better "PH" values, useful for dodging, climbing, fighting... These is one of the most peculiar armies of the game, they have no sci-fi technology at all, no robots, no hackers... they have some old fashioned guns, a lot of cammo troops (not sci-fi invisible, just normal experienced soldiers), even werewolves. They are good at some guerrilla tactics, ambush, courage...
Game Style:They can fill the battleground of hidden cammo troops and surprise the enemy, then hide again.
What to purchase as a beginner? Ariadna Starter Pack, really cool and effective miniatures all of them.
Caledonian Highlander Army Starter Pack, this is a sectorial starter pack army, but it is also playable in the generic ariadnan Army.
What next? for reaching 200pts. I suggest:
Zouave HMG
45th Galwegian Rifles. Crazy Scottish berserker men. Let them run towards the enemy and die for you.
Mirage 5: Margot & Duroc, these are para-troopers. The wolf can only appear if his girlfriend goes with him, they usually make a lot of damage to the enemy lines.
CB published this suggested army list weeks ago:
Also, I´ll recommend you to watch the rules tutorial videos from their youtube channel, even before reading the rules.
Beginning with this one:

I've not stopped praising Infinity since I came across it.
You can pretty much make an army based entirely on the models you think look cool.
For example you could run the following list at 250 points which includes all the models you find interesting and it'd still be a pretty good, versatile list.
Total SWC: 5.0 Total Points: 256
Generated with Infinity Pool
With this list, you'd have your Paratroopers dropping out of the sky to do some fair damage and the rest of your army is made up of Camo Markers. You can mix and match units such as Kazaks and Caledonians if you're going for a general Ariadna list.
Hope this helps.
Yeah you can give the SAS guys Boarding Shotguns at 3 extra points per model, you may have to drop a Para Commando if you're playing 250 points and try make it up elsewhere but see how it goes.
Sweet, I really appreciate the help. I just wish my friends were more willing to give this game a try. Im trying to tell them how much faster-paced this game is with the reaction system, but they will have none of it hahaha. Maybe they'll change their minds when they see how awesome these models are. =p
So you told the SD boy to stay classy. I'm sure he's NEVER heard that one....
Other points worth using to sell the game to your friends: free Quick Start and full rules, comprehensive rules wiki and a free online army building tool. Oh, and new models being released every month for multiple factions.
Remember, too, that it's not too expensive to invest in two small forces, so you can always have a second force handy to demo the game to the skeptical.
Ugh, I've been worn down enough to where I'm going to try Infinity again. The miniatures, artwork, and slight anime style are just too much for an artist like myself to pass up.
I couldn't find the stats for the starter/demo minis anywhere online. Are there public stats for them? I'd like to actually try this again with proxies (and show my friends the rules) before I buy into the game.

D'oh! And I just found that too. Thanks for letting me know.
Every time I clicked the Download page link my mind just glossed over the large letters saying, "Army Lists."
Edit: Hmm... are there some good pre-made demo army lists to try out there? I know the Infinity site has 300 point starter army lists, but I'm looking for lists that represent starter boxes well.

These guys did a great intro video with their own quick start rules which work really well. You can read their free pdf quickstart rules while you watch the video. It's pretty handy:
