When I think of Arcade games from Xbox-live I think of repetitive, flashy, and new-genre type of games. Many of which seem to be copies of others, or just using the same mechanics and looks. So when I heard that there was going to be a warhammer 40k, space marine themed arcade game, I one, didn't get my hopes up for something new, and two I got excited for the sheer fact that it's warhammer 40k. I played the demo before I bought the actual game for a mere $10.00 US, and was thoroughly surprised with the graphics engine, the playability, voice acting, and the very warm feeling of playing an adventure arcade game with the masking of a 40k universe.

Let me say that this game does not do anything amazing or new for the arcade shooter genre. It is very much the same as any other when it comes to mechanics, so I am not going to be rating it on the basis of new content. I will be basing it on the ability THQ showed to incorporate 40k into such an 'undepth' type of genre.

LEVEL DESIGN: Three hits out of 5

I am giving level design a three out of five for the fact that there wasn't anything that particularly made me jump out of my seat and get my nerd on. It was your standard tunnel crawling and open spaced, moving up three dimensional rafting and coming back down to accomplish objectives. Everything looked extremely Orky, which is good, seeing that this takes place on an Ork Krooza.

GRAPHICS: Four hits out of 5

I enjoyed the graphics, and the fact that THQ took the graphics engine from the 'beautiful' Dawn of War II, and implemented it into this shooter-arcade. Everything looked clean and polished, and the lighting effects for things such as a Plasma cannon, or a melta took me by surprise (I found at times I would use my Melta as a flash light).

STORY: Four hits out of 5

Take this with a grain of salt. Not many arcade shooters have a solid story, or one at all for that matter, so when I say 4 out of 5 for a story, I am not comparing it to a well put together RPG or an RTS. The story line is filled by a narrator telling you what to do, and why you needed to destroy this ship. When new enemies appear you are given reasons why, (such as the surprise of the Nids). At the end of the game it is clear that this is a prelude to the upcoming release of Space Marine.

re-Playability: Three hits out of 5

Kill Team does nothing surprising for re playability, most, if not all the unlocks you will unlock within he span of doing the campaign on co-op so you will probably only be doing the campaign every time you want to show this off to a friend. The Survival mode of the game is decent and well thought out, though I would of enjoyed being able to pick through the four classes that are given, instead of two presets for each survive map. However it is nice to see that you can choose from five different chapters that you'd like to see your space marine dawn the colors of, Ultra-marines, Salamanders, White Scars, Blood Ravens, Imperial Fists.

Co-Op Four hits out of 5

This is another shining gem for this game. Where the campaign is not only difficult and fun alone, it is even much more so with a friend. When you do co-op with someone you will notice it jump in difficulty by the mid of the game, with many more enemies and more challenges than you'd expect (Wait till the Carnifex). Co-op is probably the only reason I would play the Campaign time and time again. It was fun, but much more so playing it over and over with each and everyone of your friends (if you peeps have any X3).

Game Length: Four hits out of 5

MY younger brother and I in co-op finished the campaign in roughly 3-4 hours. Which is saying alot to me! Not many arcade games come with a story, or one that lasts several hours of time spent playing. For $10 you cannot complain with this, I remember spending $60 for a game that lasted around the same amount of time (*cough* Force Unleashed 2 *cough*). Not taking in account for survive mode, hours of game play for the story was, and is surprising for any arcade shooter.

END RATING= Four hits, out of 5.
