Today I managed to paint up this little guy.
It was time to build me a PA Reclusiarch. I proxied him the last few games with my TDA guy. This was not a real good solution for obvious reasons.

I bulit him a few days ago with bits I once ordered for him and today I managed to completely paint him.

But the reason for me avoiding extreme highlights is that I hate edge highlighting with all my passion. I reduce it to a minimum because I really hate it that much. ^^

And that comes from a guy who is planning to get himself some Dark Eldar as a second army.

So I reached my goal. ^^

I tried to copy the appearence of Marshall "Go and smash some faces" Helbrecht.

Looks nice, but the Icon on his back is just too large to be serious.

Well... The size of the icon mainly has practical reasons.
He has to stand out from the squad containing these two decorated not yet finished power weapon wielding guys.




And surprisingly it is even smaller than a regular back banner.

Very nice job. I really like the bases.

Looks awesome! Please post pics of that Librarian when it's finished as well, it looks like it's going to turn out great!

Concerning the base.
I'm ashamed to admit that it's fairly simple.

The main component is cork.

I break this to pieces and glue it on.

Further I use some of this granule. You get it in every hobby store.


And some sand.

For painting. It gets spray painted black.
Then heavy drybrushing: Scorched brown, followed by a lighter drybrush of bestial brown, finished with a even lighter drybrush of Tausept Ochre.

It's quick and dirty, but the structure of the crumbled cork really does an amazing job

I really love how you do the shadows and highlights on the red and how well the green contrasts with the rest of the paint job.
