At the end of August I'm going to college in Front Royal, VA. I've noticed from the GW site that there's a few game stores in Winchester. Any gamers from Dakka down there? I'm going to be new to the whole scene, so any welcome would be great.

Well, I wouldn't really call Front Royal very northern, but a lot of people game at Huzzah Hobbies in Ashburn VA; maybe 40 minutes from Winchester?

I'm actually in Stephens City, right outside Winchester. I'm just trying to get into WH:40k as well, and I don't know much about it. If you're starting college there, we're probably around the same age as well. Maybe we could get something started?

I usually play at either the GW in Fair Oaks Mall or the Hobby Works in Fair City Mall. Both are in Fairfax, VA.

Hmm. I live in Fairfax and have yet to be at the Hobby Works store. I should check that out. I've spent some time gaming at the Game Parlor Chantilly, (about 4 or so miles from the Fair Oaks Mall) and up where piperider is at (Huzzah Hobbies!). Out of all the places I've thrown dice at, I have to say I enjoyed the folks up in Ahsburn (HH) the most. Despite that, everywhere I've gone has had a pretty good atmosphere.

I live in Woodbridge, haven't been to a actual store for a game in years though, as I've only really got back into the game a few months back.

Gainesville here. Been to Game Parlor, never played there though. Been to GW in Fair Oaks often and played often, but mostly its on Wednesdays for the WH40K battles and the games are betewwn 6-12 players. Very fun, but not always the games I want to play.
Interested in meeting people in the general area that would like to game / model ... possibly arrange games (gasp) instead of heading in to GW in the hopes someone else is there who wants to play and doesn't already have an arranged game.

Well this is little out of your way but I'll just throw it out there: http://beltway-gamers.com/forums/
The group is kinda "head-quartered" at the Bowie Battle Bunker (in Maryland), so like I said, maybe a bit further than you want to go. Still, it couldn't hurt to introduce yourself on the forum, might be one or two folks there that are a little closer to your neck of the woods...

Hey Wargamers in the DC/VA/MD area (ie: the Beltway), check these groups out!

Try checking out Eagle and Empire in Alexandria. Mostly Flames of War centric but they have a decent amount of tables and terrain. I just starting going there and they seem friendly enough.

I'll be relocating to DC in August as well. I plan on living in Fairfax (GMU alum) so the Fair Oaks store sounds perfect. I play Orks and Deathwing. Anyone can PM me if you're interested in starting a regular rotation, maybe even a club of sorts.
Cheers.

OK their is no stores that have gaming in winchester Virginia the last on was Mind Games but closed. but the Game Parlor in Martinsburg an hour out of WInchester have 40k game day all day wedensdays and tournament everymonth plus about every game possible. Have been to game parlor cool place too. Plus there is a place in Stanton Virginia the Dragon keep if I can remember correctly been awhile since I went there. SO I guess I'm currently a homeless gamer too, and yes it blows too. SO if you come up with a place I would love to know cause I could bring some more players to the game.
Cheers

The GW in Fair Oaks is a wonderful place, great staff, and not quite as fanatical GW as some places can be. Never had any of the problems other Hobby Centers seem to have had~

Forgive me for the necro, but I was wondering if there's any local game groups in Woodbridge,va? Me and my friends play MTG but I recently started getting into WH40k, and now I'm looking for people I can play/learn warhammer with. I know victory comics in falls church/GW in fair oaks mall but is there anyplace closer to my area?
Thanks
