Ok, so I'm changing things up. I've narrowed down my choices to three codexes; Chaos Space Marines, Imperial Guard, and Orks. Now, I eventually want to do all of these armies, but I can only manage one army at a time, hehe. So here are the new choices. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post.

My vote goes to Elysian, don't really see them all too much. If it were pre-heresy I'd vote for Death Guard though as I don't think I've even seen an army of them before.

There seems to be far more Krieg armies than there needs to be. I've never heard of Elysian guard, and I like variety, so there you go.

I voted for Krieg because dey iz made fer fight.

That's just it...they're all about equal. I like some things about one that I may not like about the others, but nothing really puts one above the rest. As for a pre-heresy army, I had thought of that and I love the color scheme (though everyone paints them white ), but if I did, I just wouldn't be able to run them as Chaos. And already having a Space Marine army, I'd rather branch out to a new 'Dex. That being said, thanks for the input.

Hehe, to be honest, the only time I ever really hear about or see a DKK army is here on Dakka, and usually its "How can I make a cheap Korps army without using Forgeworld stuff????" The choices are based solely on what I think looks cool when I imagine it in my head. The Imperial Guard armies are probably not going to be painted your standard Korps or Elysian colors, (maybe close, but definitely not the same), but the Death Guard will definitely be by the book, and the Orks will be painted with blues and blacks, since they'll be Deathskulls and Goffs.

As a side note, all the armies (with the exception of the Orks) will make fairly extensive use of Forgeworld resins, so if that factors into your vote, now you know.

Well, I think I've actually decided which army I want to do. I was looking at all the Forgeworld resin pieces I can get, and I just got really inspired to do the Death Guard first. I want to do roughly half the army using the corpulent, rotting Death Guard/Plague Marine models and conversion kits, and the rest using the old armor marks and the different bolter patterns. The Plague Marine-style models will be painted the traditional putrid green and rust colors, while the regular-style models will use the pre-heresy paint scheme (I'll probably go with more of a light grey than a straight white). That way it will look like the army is in the midst of being corrupted (and I'll also b able to model another set of the pre-heresy models and make a whole army to use as a loyalist SM army). Any thoughts, comments or questions?

Edit: I just need to get my copy of 'Flight of the Eisenstein' for some referencing.

Ok guys, I have a few questions. Does anyone know where I might be able to find transfers of the Death Guard's pre-heresy Chapter symbol? Also, what are your thoughts on weathering powder vs painting for rust effects?
