The fluffy version of the battle report, not sure where else this would go besides here in the battle reports, maybe in the future on my army page. Let me know where it should normally be if you have an idea.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/391095.page#3213192 Caelis Sol stood amidst the towering crystalline structures in the forest of ancients. He had returned here to commune once more with the craftworld, to scry the fates once more down the twisted paths of what may come. It had been the same for many cycles now. However he twisted the events there was a shadow coming for the craftworld of Altansar. A great evil that had been told to them by the harlequins was abroad once more. If they did not remove the threat while it was exposed, it would next visit his home craftworld. There were restrictions upon this attack, the web way to their destination was a small one, there would be no room for large tanks or support vehicles. His internal sense of timing told him the time had come. Caelis Sol moved quickly now that the time was upon him. He took up his weapons and boarded the flyer that zipped him out over the edge of the craftworld. Moments only had passed before the skimmer settled just above the web way portal. The troops already stood ready, organized into ranks and briefed on what would be awaiting them on the other side.
Caelis Sol stood before them for a moment, all their eyes focused upon him. Drawing a sword he pointed towards the portal his thoughts flowing into those who would travel with him. He instilled a sense of purpose into each and every mind before him, honing their anger beneath the masks of Khaine. A stirring behind each eye the equivalent of a shouted cheer by a human force, or the thundering Waagh of an ork army. Webway guides began to make arcane symbols preparing to open the webway portal to their destination. A minor fold surprised them as it appeared where they had been working. From the crackling depths of space/time a hulking form appeared. The harvester of souls silently stepped forth, one hand holding the Maugeter as he beckoned forwards the force towards their destiny. A thrill ran through each of the Eldar as they followed the Phoenix lord. Caelis Sol closed his eyes for a moment as he stepped across the plane of the webway portal. Vertigo assailed him for a moment before his senses righted and he felt himself within a great hall. Maugan Ra guided them without hesitation to a small offshoot of the main path. War walkers and the wraithlord Kali bent nearly double to pass into the smaller chamber.
In moments they found themselves emerged upon their battlefield. The grass before them brown and curled, a decimated imperial outpost lay before the Eldar battleforce. A nearly intact building with no roof lay before them, heavy armorcrete walls seared with markings of a recent battle. Each squad ran towards a predetermined position outlined by the Autarchs before they had left. The three war walkers took up a position atop a loading dock, there weapons targeting in on nearby buildings awaiting a live target. Pathfinders took up firing positions atop the walls and out windows. Dire avengers made up a firing line to either side of the ruins, Fire dragons and Dark reapers led by Maugan Ra stood by the southern entrance, ranging their equipment in on a nearby stand of rock formations. Caelis Sol took up his position amidst the forces, runes of telling floating before him he peered into the future. A great sense of foreboding filled him and he had but a moment to send a psychic command of warning to his troops. Swooping hawks leapt into the air, two squads of warp spiders winked out of existence just as the ground began to tremble. The skies split as fleshy meteors streaked towards the now entrenched Eldar army. Seemingly in time a massive snakelike creature reared up out of the ground before Caelis Sol and his men. Behind them a meteor landed, a crackling sound as it split, then a large monstrous carnifex thundered out it's scream. A hideous winged creature landed next to the carnifex, hoisting twined fleshy weapons. A final meteor landed to the south and as it sundered to spill it's contents a wave of evil seemed to come over the Eldar. Caelis Sol's ruin dropped to the ground and for a moment even he trembled before the beast that issued forth.
The doom of Malan'tai came forth. A nimbus of crackling energy surrounded it's seemingly too large head. Waves of loathsome energy seemed to surround it. Those troops nearest began to collapse, the very life energy sucked from them. A handful of precious Eldar lost, even there spirit stones gone dark. The great wraithlord Kali fell to it's knees before toppling over, now simply an empty shell. A handful of remaining fire dragons dashed past the Doom, appearing to be in full retreat. The rest of the tyranid super creatures opened fire, and the Eldar began to fall.
Having skirted the massive Doom of Malan'tai, the fire dragons turned and opened fire. Super heated air shrieked as it struck the grotesque creature, sparking off it, then slowly a section at the back of it's head began to boil. Fury surged through the fire dragons and their weapons turned the Doom in to nothing more then a steaming pile of bio matter. Furos the Exarch bathed it in flame to be sure this portion of the hive would be denied the genetic material to make a new one. With the evil presence eradicated the Eldar seemed to leap into action. Quickly going from those surrounded, to surrounding the Tyranids. Warp spiders teleported in to either side of the carnifex and flying hive tyrant. Monomolecular webbing surrounded the two creatures, creating large lacerations through their armor. The hive tyrant spread it's wings wide to counter attack and the pathfinders took advantage. High powered laser fire stabbed through the great beasts eyes, frying it's cortex instantly. Maugan Ra Charged into the Carnifex, the Maugeter swung heavily and the carnifex slumped to the ground split in two. As the tides of battle turned Caelis Sol directed the war walkers to unleash their concentrated fire on the massive snaking Trygon. The beast reared back, blood flowing from a dozen burns and marks. Caelis Sol and his attendants charged in, weapons swinging. A swipe from the Trygon's tail crushed two warlocks, but those remaining pounced quickly. Psychic charged blades plunged into the beasts head as it swept in for another attack. Swooping hawks flew from the skies and opened fire on the still living mycetic spore which had delivered the Doom of Malan'tai.
The ground shook yet again, another Trygon emerged on the other side of the ruins. A third mycetic spore plunged to the ground and issued forth a pair of zoanthropes, energy crackling about their enlarged heads. The seemingly desolate stones behind the swooping hawks seemed to vomit forth a flood of be-taloned creatures. Before even the fastest of the Eldar could react half of the flying warriors were slain. To the west a squad of warp spiders suffered a similar fate, genestealers swarming out of what appeared to be safe cover. To the north a battle of wills took place, Caelis Sol felt the fluctuations in the warp as the zoanthropes prepared to unleash their power. A twist of energy from the Eldar psycher however caused one of them to fall to the ground, it's massive brain overloaded by the power it had sought to control.
Once more the Eldar moved to the attack, the swooping hawks leapt to the skies just as waiting jet bikers arrived. Speeding across a grassy expanse they unloaded their weapons into the genestealers that had been so recently in combat. Only one survived the onslaught, to be crushed by a sword blow from charging dire avengers. Caelis Sol bent the skeins of fate, drawing out the ill stars for the massive Trygon that had arrived. A wave of Pathfinder fire struck it in the most tender of places, covering Maugan Ra's approach as once more felled a massive Tyranid beast. Having seen the carnage wrought by the hidden genestealers Caelis Sol scried the location of another squad as they appeared from behind a cliff. Guiding his war walkers a barrage of fire all but eliminated the small horde of creatures. A momentary lull in the battle presaged a final wave of multi limbed horrors from below. Genestealers scrambled from the depths of the very ruin the Eldar were hiding in, slaughtering the pathfinders and bringing one of the war walkers to it's knees. Within the confines of the ruins there was no room to fire weapons lest they hit there own. Caelis Sol led the counter charge, dark reapers smashing their heavy weapons like bludgeons. Fire dragons and swooping hawks flitting in and out quickly. Dire avengers worked together in a complicated pattern of defense, while Maugan Ra strode through the midst of the melee, crushing Tyranids in every direction.
The cost had been high but the Eldar had triumphed. As they returned to the webway portal once more Caelis Sol could already see the brightening of the future, the attack by a hive fleet had been diverted to another world. The doom of Malan'tai would not feed upon the life force of craftworld Altansar.
