Storm Claws

Brief History:
The Storm Claws are a Renegade chapter who see themselves as still loyal to the Emperor; they actively hunt Chaos and Xenos, exterminating them when possible. And were created in the 26th Founding. The Cult of the Machine were extremely displeased with this Chapter founding, as they were already running low on supplies within the area. Furious to have to transport weapons to what they saw as an unnecessary waste.

The Storm Claws geneseed comes from the geneseed of the Dark Angels. However, during the geneseed transportation to Duskos Primary (Home planet) a Greater Daemon of Slaanesh attacked the Storm of Hope while it travelled through the warp. Immediately slaughtering the crew members. The Storm of Hopes astropath crew attempted to send message to a local Dark Angels force, performing a routine cleansing of a planet (Known as DA19543). Before the Dark Angels force could respond, the Greater Daemon had found his way to the hold which kept the Geneseed, it attempted to corrupt these geneseeds with its Ruinous powers. Before it could finish its work, Captain Aurvus of the Dark Angels 4th Company made it to the ship and stormed into the hold. Captain Aurvus drew his sword, and slew the Daemon. (Open to Conjecture). But alas he was too late, the geneseed, once implanted into the Recruits they started to suffer from insomnia, it seems that the greater daemon of Slaanesh had given them the ‘gift’ of a permanent state of awareness.

As such, Astartes from the Storm Claws are unable to sleep, or be put into coma. It was years, and various successful campaigns that the Inquisition discovered this from Captain Aurvus. After this the Storm Claws were labelled Traitoris Excommunicates and as such were to be exterminated. The Storm Claws valiantly held Duskos Primary for as long as they could, but when the Inquisition ordered the Dark Angels to exterminate them, the Storm Claws fled, rather than turn against the Chapter that they saw as fathers and saviours.
They now survive on their Battle Barge named Storm of Hope, after the ship that carried their Geneseed.




Battle Doctrine:

The Storm Claws fight with the ferocity of all Astartes, but prefer to strike at the time of Rest of whomever they are attacking. Be that Dawn, or the middle of the night on the planet they are striking. Due to their permanent state of awareness this is the optimum time to strike. The Storm Claws prefer the use of Special weapons to that of Heavy Weapons, as they try to Strike like lightening with the ferocity of a storm, to obliterate there foes, while maintaining Mobility. They extensively use Rhino Armoured Assault vehicles are prefer close range firepower to long range slaughter. The storm claws do not use combat blades like other Astartes, but rather have a longer, curved knife about 18” long called a Cultri.

Each and every Storm Claw marine is trained with captured Melta and Plasma weaponry so that they will be able to use second hand weaponry. Each Marine is allowed to modify their Bolter in any way they see fit, as long as it fits certain circumstance.
Home planet, and Duskos System:

The Duskos system is located on the fringe of the Segmentum Pacifius. Duskos Primary is a rural world mostly full of farms. However on the southernmost continent there was a Fortress Monastery. It however burnt in the fall of Duskos Primary, along with the entire planet.

The rest of the Duskos system was deemed too valuable to destroy. Being full of high product Agri-Worlds and one Feral World, known as Duskos XIV. This planet was the location of 90% of the Storm Claw recruitment.
Chapter Organisation:

The Storm Claws only have 3 Operating Companies, all of the rest were annihilated on Duskos Primary when it fell.

1st Company Captain: Maul Nimbus

2nd Company Captain: Jauffus Merculos

3rd Company Captain: Asrael Monkeilo

Not sure whether they would have allowed the gene-seed to be implanted if it had become corrupted... they aren't stupid.
Though if their gene-seed had become corrupted without them knowing...

Purple, although i dont actually think i wrote this down. I had it in my head that the Dark Angels kept it quite. I still dont have a reason why though........

Also I'm not sure they would be declared traitorous excommunicates just for having dodgy gene-seed...
Now, they may be watched due to it but they won't be kicked out straight away.

Im fairly sure if their gene seed was discovered to be tainted by a chaos god then they would label them that.

In the 21st Founding Fabius Bile got in and messed with the gene-seed. All of the chapters from that founding are either lost or have some kind of flaw.
Few to none of them have been declared Excommunicatus without having done something to precipitate it.

That said you could always have a traitor captain pull the chapter into civil war which forces the Imperium to declare the chapter Traitorous (Due to their already imperfect gene-seed and several rumour about how it happened) and attempt to annhialate the entire chapter turning it into a 3-way fight which only a few Imperial forces and the loyalists survive. Instead of a random DA captain putting them in the mess.

I like the battle style, the moment you you give into exhaustion is the moment you're doomed.
