Having just finished this game I figured I'd write up a quick review. However this will be my first review.
Gameplay 7/10
Game does have its occasional glitches as many seem to upon release these days, though not to the extent I have seen in some making them nigh unplayable.
The controls themselves seem to be quite fluid, I chose Xian so I only mostly have experience with sharp weapons rather than blunt, but it was quite easy to chain combo the entire fatigue bar away on mulitple zombies. This is not a bad thing as for each kill without aiming and just swinging wildly you can expect to use a quarter of the bar at most. The kick however seemed like a get out of jail free card as it cost nothing and you could quite easily spam it whilst fighting other zombies to knock a few down. Once down they are incredible easy to finish off which detracts from the difficulty early on, however as the zombies level with you this tactic will not work for the entire game. Towards the beginning if you were to kick a charging zombie they would stop and fall on their back, whereas towards the end they would stagger a little but not usually fall. Basically it buys you some time if you get swarmed but it will only do so for so long forcing you to adapt to the changes to the zombies.
Each character having their own specialisation has a slightly different skill tree to them which for Xian included the head stomp, bane of all pretending to be dead walkers.

The effects the zombies could have on them were as they should be expected; setting a zombie on fire would usually end out bad for you unless you could stagger them and keep them in the fire otherwise you end up with a flaming corpse dealing extra damage to you though still taking damage itself. All this added to the immersion of the game; an important feature for most 1st person
RPGs in my opinion.
Story 6/10
I won't spoil too much in this section by keeping it brief.
At times the story seems kind of cliche for this kind of genre however it only becomes more apparent as the game progresses, though it was still enjoyable despite this.
Character development is decent for this genre and adds to the immersion.
Sound 7/10
The game has a slight lack of music focusing more on creating the atmosphere, however, in the safe areas or more important combat sequences there is appropriate music to add to the already built up atmosphere whether it be by hyping it up or making it seem more pointless. Altogether the ambient sounds and the moans of the zombies in the background a times creates an immersive environment which is at times contrasted to a brief moment or two of eerie silence.
The voice acting is not so bad either.
Overall I'd give this game a 7/10, it was quite enjoyable and I think the trailers hadn't quite lived up to the actual game.
